I interprete his shove as his only way to win the pot, i.e., he needs you to fold. I would call and mumble to myself the whole way home if he shows me jj.

I called, was shown JJ, took 5 minutes to regroup, re-entered, and then 20 minutes later got 25k chips each in on J97r with 99 against AQ and lost. THEN I was really mumbling to myself.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. Seems like a pretty close spot either way.

I think it's a sucky spot, but I still don't think I can find a fold here. Especially against a "good" player. I've seen people do all kinds of spewy things early in tournaments. If you fold this hand you will be over folding most of the time. Maybe if there is some kind of history and you know this player is an old nit I can be convinced.

Im also for a x/r otf, if we don't balance this with our value range then our bluff raises don't have any teeth. How are you constructing any meaningful x/r range if these get flatted? We might 3b 77+ pre so all your left with for bluffs is all our draws like wheel aces and 45 but no value hands to balance that off. Also board is so dry, villian might think we can attack this texture flatting from the bb. Would not be suprised to see some b/c as pure floats from V in this spot.

As played, I would only fold if I was exploiting a super strong read, sometimes you just have to lose.
