I have just moved to the table. So I don't have any read on SB. But BB and another player are the big stack and they have been going at it against each other. Either of them are opening like 80% of the hands. So BB's opening range is wide. Here before calling he asked me how much I have left and tanked for few seconds before calling. We had 1 hand history where I opened with AJ and he called from BB. I c-bet on a KJX board and he folded.

- Should I bet flop?
- Should I shove the turn ? Rep a a strong A or AK. Given that he is loose I could go for this line.
- Call or fold river?

Bet flop doesn't make much sens. Turn seems closer to a fold than a raise. I guess river he should be quite polarized with that sizing so maybe call is not as terrible as it might seem but still a fold imo.

Thanks. Since he was an aggressive player I didn't want to give him the opportunity to bluff me.

TBH - I generally open rip JJ pre here from EP as I generally hate life when having to play it with a low SPR.

As played, I either shove turn over BB's smallish bet or fold. 9K is way too valuable to call and hope for a 2 outer OTR.

shoving pre definitely an option.

its a very interesting spot imo.

Maybe its best to bet very small on the flop, like 10k. Sort of hard to continue on that board vs a cbet with undercards. after that give up i guess.

i think i like that more than calling turn (and river).

I used to shove but I was trying to keep my open shoves to less than 15bb to try and see how that works out.

18bbs is too much to shove - if you're going to call turn, should probably make life easier for yourself and bet flop.

pitch river obv without much thought. seems really bad to call, especially as he's turning QJ/QT into a bluff here as well.

Don't hate a shove pre with this exact hand. There's a really good argument to be made for shoving something like {88-JJ, AQo+}. People hear "shove pre" and assume you mean you're playing an entirely shove-or-fold strategy. You certainly don't have to be. It makes perfect sense to shove your most vulnerable hands that are comfortable GII for 18bb pre and, so that V's have incentive to call and pay you off, balancing it out with some "bluffs" preflop (and they're arguably semibluffs)--the ones with the best blockers and most robust equity when called (to say nothing of the suited varieties, which should still be opened normally IMO because they have sick playability and therefore don't need the protection offered via a shove)

AP we're already in a node of the game tree we're never supposed to be in. X back flop is just fine. But V's leading range is gonna be pretty polar and he's got enough Kx to back it up which actually desires a bigger sizing than what he chose. If you're gonna start bombing turn with Kx and balance that with 22 being turned into a bluff and 5c4c, etc. too, you'd wanna go half-pot. Half pot sizing makes hero's 44-QQ indifferent to calling and folding; 25% pot does not.

So call turn and fold river is just fine. Doubt there's even anything exploitative about it. You can rest easy knowing you played your hand well--you forced V into a suboptimal decision OTT. WP.
