Table has been pretty tight. Not much 3-betting and many pots taken down by min-raise pre-flop. Not much history with villain, but from what I've seen he's been pretty tight. On this flopped set, what's the best line here to maximize value?

What about sizing? I'd go for 55-60% flop and a bit less on the turn (less in terms of pot %)

OP u can answer a lot of these Qs yourself by thinking more about opponent ranges and playing to max value vv that range. Typical preflop floating ranges include all kinds of mid pairs, paint etc. this is the nut best flop to cbet and barrel, because most of V range connects in some way. Start betting for value ASAP

On this flop, bet - bet -bet. If the board is dry a check is fine but not on a board like this. And as someone already posted, you are asking to be punished by drawing hands.

If you're unsure what do you now then I'll tell you you should bet.

However it's hilarious I guess villan had some J8s and it's kind of a slow play challenge where everything is smooth and calm till river where it suddenly explodes. ))

You need a value range on this flop and 99 should very much be part of it.

The flop is very wet and hits the range of the caller in the SB a lot more than the ep raiser. Your cbet will not get that many folds and you can't allow a free card with so many draws. Absolutely horrible flop check in position.

OTT board is now a lot wetter, which should be good for getting action, but unfortunately you represent the ace well.

With the wet board, I would bet large on both streets.

Thanks for comments. This kind of situation comes up a lot with top pair or flopped set or straight. As played, I checked flop hoping to induce villain to bet the turn. On turn after villain's check, I bet 1/2 pot and villain folded. Can't let him see a free river. Not sure if villain would have called flop bet. I guess some of the time villain will connect with the ace and call the turn and maybe river, but other times ace on the turn will kill the action since villain has no ace and my checked flop and bet turn looks a lot like an ace.

On reflection, probably right that this board can connect with villain a lot and give him a lot of draws to call with, so I lost value by not betting the flop.

This is just horrible. It is a basic rule not to slow play a wet board. You give him a free card to draw to beat you. Plus if you bet he may checkraise and maybe gii with a big made hand or combo draw.

think to yourself have you been c betting alot of the time when having a hand or not??
have you been checking back alot of the flops when you have hit big, by continiuos plays like this you will be too exploitable and it doesnt take a good player to realise this.

Just out of curiosity, if a q of hearts fell on the turn and he leads,, would you be flat calling or looking to stick in a raise with this super wet board!!
