Hey final table of a $300 buy in on pokerbros... no HUD and no real reads on the players.

Stacks are very close. I'm sitting 9th with around 10BB 2Millions Chips with the highest at around 23BB and around 4.6Million Chips.

9 players left.

1st Place = 41k
8th Place = 5.2k
9th Place = 3.1k

Villian is in the BB with around 14BB

Folds to Hero on the button with Kh5h.....

Is this a clear shove?

Also what is the worst hand you would expect to be called by from the Villian, I was very surprised by what I was called by given the situation and ICM.

Thanks

I assume you are in the SB, so this is a very easy shove. You should be pushing most of your hands. Some people are calling BvB pushes very light these days online, knowing people are pushing light. Sometimes I see people making bad calls. He should at least call with anything ahead of your hand and some decent Q and J high hands.

OP is on the Button.

Even if SB is 23 bb's I think I am shoving this.

I do expect BB to call with A8+/KJ+/QJs/55+.

I think its possible that Villain to call with 22-44. I was playing in a Venetian tourney and I shoved with 33 OTB and Villain called with 22 in the SB when we both had about 13 BB's.

It is also likely that villain will call with any suited A.

Problem is if villain calls with KT+ and many suited K's.

Still we have 10 BB's. Can't sit and wait for better hands that might never come. And we are in 9th.

Agree with above, unless sb is the big stack.

Hey Mr Rick I agree with everything...

I was very surprised when Villian called and turned over QJo.

Is QJo an alright call here or actually pretty bad?

Plus CeV. Probably close to zero $Ev.

I am pushing a lot lighter than Kxs with 9xBB from the button. For one thing you need chips, and could have like 5xBB after going through the blinds again with blinds and antes going up.

The call may be slightly $EV-, but he still has a small stack if he loses. Did he hit the Q or the J?

I think this really depends on your image.

If you have been very tight and have blinded down then I wouldn't call with QJo.

But if you have been somewhat aggressively raising pre-flop then I would probably let it go.

But you saw that I expected QJs to call. Which is also questionable.

Thing is in this spot I would shove wider than KXs. So since QJo is better than ATC on average its not an awful call.

However with 14 bb's I would probably let it go with QJo unless I had seen you shove with a fairly bad hand extending your range to like 75%.

I actually think you can fold here if you want to take a passive route. I would guess the chip stacks from 6-10 are close so I don't mind a fold here honestly to try and ladder up. People know what to call with with from sb/bb here so they know you are probably shoving fairly wide.

This is a +ev shove (.52bb+ per nash) so shoving is not wrong here. Just consider ICM here. If the bottom players have chips stacks to you, folding isn't terrible as you have great position just going through the blinds and can potentially get a player or two to bust before your next bb maybe. Pay jumps of 2.1k from 9 to 8 is also kinda relevant.

It's a push because you have a good shot at the top places with 40% of the largest stack, and people should be calling tight due to ICM etc., despite what BB did. It is closer because of the stakes. In a $50 tournament or a soft $200+ with a lot of satellite winners, there is more reason to push, as people should be calling tighter.

I think it is a push, but reads on the blinds are very important, as seen from what happened.

As for BB's call, ICM software would say it is an easy fold. However, if he calls and wins, he has the chip lead. If he loses, he still has like 4xBB. Similarly, if you had won, you would have had the 2nd biggest stack (so it is a safe assumption you lost). I don't like the call, but it seems like a play by a decent reg in a $300.
