Playing in the Borgata Almighty Stack last night...

Blinds 600/1200

SB (19k)
MP1(70k)
MP2(??)
Button (Hero - 110k)

MP1 limps
MP2 limps
Hero (QQ) - raises to 6k
SB shoves for 19k
MP1 shoves after thinking for a minute
MP2 folds
Hero calls after thinking about it for a couple of minutes

MP1 shows AA....

I obviously didn’t put him on AA. I settled on probably pocket TT or JJ. I didn’t think he would limp with AA, KK, AK. The more I think about it the more i think I could have gotten away from that. I didn’t consider the sb stack size when I was deciding to call so I didn’t consider the limp as a possible way to induce action from the short stack.

How badly did I play that or did I just get unlucky?

Where the players sitting behind AA player raising often, or where you being very active on your button, or were the shortstacks shipping often?

When the first limper in a pot limp/3b shoves for 70 bigs and you have a 90+ big stack with an uncapped range still to act after your initial open, I think it's pretty safe to say he's on KK+ and rarely AKs and probably never less unless he's spewing.

I had a situation yesterday where UTG limp'd, UTG+1 limp'd and there were 2 more limpers and I squeezed my SB hard with QQ and UTG folded and UTG+1 3b me and I 4b shoved on him and he had AA. That was a lot more difficult of a spot because he didn't just open limp first, he overlimp'd, and our table wasn't too active at that point with squeeze plays or anything. Safe to say, he didn't make it very deep in the tournament.

He was an active player. I had gone up against him in multiple hands. I flopped top pair and flush draw and he turned a turned a gut shot straight. He was short and shoved. Call and don’t get my flush. I wish I had knocked him out then...Another hand against him a little later I had AK. I c-bet the flop and he shoved again even shorter with top pair Q. The shove was less than half the pot. I called and missed. He was my nemesis last night. He had just little enough of a stack for me to call him both times.

I just have to find the fold in that spot. At the very least I would have seen what he shoved with anyway. Live and learn.
