Villian 1: been playing with him on the same table since the start of the MTT. Haven’t tangled much. Villain is seemingly non creative and nitty. Haven’t seen him overbetting anything at all. In a previous hand he flopped a full house OOp and managed to have it checked down to a river. I imagine he views me as TAG.
Villain 2: recently got moved to our table. First hand I see him play.

We are 7 handed. No ICM in play

1500/3000/ bb ante 3000

MeBB) 183.500
Villain 1: (UTG+2) 250.000
Villain 2sb) 95.000

(UTG+2) open to 7.000
(Sb) calls 5.500
Hero: (bb) calls 4.000

FLOP: (9h Ad Jc)
(24.000 potsize)

(Sb) checks
Hero: (BB) checks
(UTG+2) bets 55.000
(Sb) shoves to 88.000
Hero: (BB) .....???

Seeing chips lost are more valuable then chips gained I proly only call 99,AJ and decide A9, we shouldn't have AA or JJ here often

Such a strange bet sizing by V1. Almost like he's leveraging your stack and daring you to shove. Feels like he's got JJ/99 a lot here. Maybe some AJ but I lean towards the sets.

I don't think I'd call A9 here. Just AJ and sets.

I imagine if we fold A9, we also have to fold AJ and put him solely on sets? It’s such a weird spot as both V2 and I are not going to have hit this board that often.

Feels so bad to fold top two here but if you really think your read is accurate then I guess we can make an (super) exploitative fold with AJ, too. It's hard to justify it though since you block both AA/JJ. A lot of weaker players don't like to raise 77-99 in EP though, so I feel like that makes AJ a bit more of a call since you're possibly chopping. Did you get to see his hand? Not asking you to share it yet, but just curious as I'm looking forward to seeing what he had.

I got to see his hand. I made a fold and he obviously snapped the sb.

AJ probably going to be a call here. A9 is kind of a tougher spot. Mostly because although we can construction ranges where we are ahead, there are a few spots that we are absolutely crushed.

If you fold AJ, you are only calling 99? I would put villain 1 on a lot of hands. He could have AK/AQ (Even AT) and the possibility of QT. Do you really think overbets the pot only with AJ or better? People do dumb things sometimes. I can see someone else saying he might be more likely to have a set. That is a reasonable assumption.

Villain 2 shoving is a bit troubling. After the bet is so large, Villain 2 has to be shoving anything he decides to continue with. So I would also put him on something similar to what villain 1 has.

I guess you had A9 and folded and you were upset with what was being shown?

What was your hand? Think that matters a lot here for blockers.

Hard to say what to make of the huge cbet sizing w/o being in your shoes and w/o knowing what the cbettor thinks of you. What level is 1.5k/3k (how many hrs into the event)? Any comments on how he might read you? Seems like you have many hours played together in this event, a few hundred hands together is more than enough to formulate a pretty solid read. Is this a live event?

If he's a huge sicko/crazy person he could be trying to exploit you to the max w/ a hand like QT or T8, although he could easily choose a smaller sizing to get the same frequency of folds from hands like 22-88 and K-high. So I doubt he's running some absurd semibluff. Plus you say he seems like a nit.

He could be trying to exploit you with fat value if he views you (or SB if he has reads on the SB) as a spewtard, leveraging his villains' stacks like HawkesDave said, thinking you and/or SB will read too much into his sizing and level yourself into thinking he's bluffing and thus call w/ any ace, or perhaps even worse. But that's a pretty creative thing to do, dunno if this guy is capable of it.

Most likely he either has AK, AQ, or even more plausibly IMO he has exactly J9 (can see a typical live villain taking this line with the latter because he hates seeing a counterfitting ace, a king, a queen, a ten, or an 8--a nit would actually consider J9 to be pretty vulnerable on this flop). It's the only hand that makes any sense at all. Does he really expect anyone to pay off, say, a set of aces w/ that sizing, especially when he'd block so many calling hands? with J9 he unblocks all naked aces that may call while blocking the better two pair combos. Actually not a bad bet with bottom two IMO, although smaller would still probably be better. Who knows.

SB can have anything including any ace. He's probably pretty fishy--he did cold-call from the SB, after all--although he certainly does have 99 and JJ in his range. That's why it would be nice to know if you block either of those hands.

I'd go for it w/ A9 and better. Online prob fold A9 and call AJ or better, but live you just see way too much BS to fold top-and-bottom or better here.

In OP I explain What I know about Villian, what my reads are and how I imagine he views me. Also I’ve made a note about no ICM implications are in play. All questions you ask in your post. Than you go and make assumptions about V1 that are not relevant. In general I appreciate the post, but you have not read OP and your post connects in no way to my question

You guessed correctly! I was not upset with the showdown, that would be silly. I made a good bassed on history, momentum, reads, etc. And I was happy with it. I probably would fold AJ vs this type of Villian aswell, but I’m not sure if I’d be able to actually do it ingame.
hero: A9
V2: Q10
V1: JJ
Yeah, story checks out. With you saying you had A9 I woulda put my money on JJ, as I guessed in my first post. He was leveraging your stack so your move was basically shove, call/call for stacks, or fold. Not sure it’s a good move by him unless he has a good read on you that you overvalue TPTK. If you folded 2p then obviously you don’t but in most cases his play won’t work well because he blocks the most likely 2p hand heavily so he’s basically needing you to have A9 or overplay AK here to make this weird bet sizing profitable.
