Hey guys, new to the site and want your opinions.

48 left in $10k live tourny. 20 minute levels, Blinds 1500/3000/500, bubble at 18th place

Villain 1 LAG = 100k
Villain 2 TAG = 60k
Hero TAG = 110k

V1 has been very active in recent orbits and raised to 7k middle position and V2 flats on the button. I call with Tens on the BB.

Flop is 7 7 2 rainbow. I check with the intention to raise cbet. V1 cbets, V2 shoves his remaining stack and I overshove. V1 folds.

V2 turns over KJo.

What do you guys think of the check with intention of raising the cbet? How about the calling of the shortstack shove?

He rivered a Jack for anyone curious...

I'd probably shove pre, as played we are ahead of button range for sure I guess reshoving is pretty standard.

when you shove preflop, you're effectively shoving just over 30bb,

that being said, it kinda shows that you have a monster hand and you give villain 2 on the button really bad odds to make that call preflop for 18 bb more and villain one will fold most of the time anything but big pairs and good looking broadways, so we're pretty safe on that.

so, preflop shove gets the job done and you increase stack by 20%

plus your shove looks really steally/strong from the bb and can get a lot of calls from sm-mid pairs

Thanks for the thoughts. I forgot to mention I had shoved preflop 2 hands prior so I felt I might get called by a wider range. Would that make a difference in your preferences to jam preflop?

It was awful, played like 1/2 NL. I only registered because it was a cheap way to get my girlfriend some tourney experience. Never again though...

Edit: sorry, meant it was 10k guarantee, not buy in lol

would be an interesting use of the word "cheap" if it was buyin

3b/c pre.

What is your reasoning behind 3b/c pre as opposed to jamming pre or just calling?

I like jamming pre for the reasons the other guys gave above. The way I played while not ideal, would have let me get away from the hand on an ugly flop. What would be the benefit of 3b/c when I'll be out of position and a flop with one or more broadways could essentially end my tournament or lose a heavy preflop investment?

3bet to 28k, call if shove. If you just call on BB with TT, being oop with 2 guys leave your pp as set value... cause you will have to give up a lof of flops.

Well if you suck post flop then by all means jam. But it's hard to get called by worse pairs which could shove over a 3bet if we're perceived to be squeezing.

I like jamming better, but 3b could work as long as the sizing is large enough to look like a resteal. Don't want to play a 3-way bloated pot oop late in a tournament w tt

Am i missing something here or do I not speak english?
because i always thought when someone thinks you're super strong they will want to call with better hands instead of small pairs...

some pretty bad comments here...
if you 3bet call you won't play OOP? you'll be all in...

jamming will just take away any opportunity from villain to bluff...it looks like a good spot to squeeze, so go ahead 3 bet and hope one of them thinks you're squeezing and jams.

V1 could flat a 3b with his stack size if the 3b is small enough. Spot may become more interesting if v1 flats a small 3b and v2 mashes his 60k in the middle, or flats behind (some vs may be bad enough to do this). If both flat we are oop in a bloated 3way pot.

The other problem with jamming is that we don't do this with the top of our range when we're 30bb effective.
