BvB. Do I need to payoff? BvB. Do I need to payoff?

ACR Sunday Million. Fairly early. I've had a healthy stack the whole time -- top 25% in chips. I've only been at this table around 4 orbits, so no real reads.

V has about 70 bbs and is on BB.
I have about 130 bbs and am on SB.

OTTH:

Folded to me with AdJc. I raise to 3 bbs, V calls.

Flop (7 bbs): Td4s2c rainbow. I x/c 1.5 bbs.

Turn (10 bbs): 9d. Checked around.

River (10 bbs): Jd. I check, V bets 10 bbs. Me?

I probably call.

The bet by V is polarizing. Its not a standard value bet. We only have to win 33% of the time for this to break even and we have plenty of bb's to absorb the loss.

Pre-flop I probably raise to 4bb's.

As played I prefer to bet on the flop here though I would have bet more than 1.5 bb's so you did well to check/call.

As played I would lead out on the river about 6 bb's. And bet/fold.

Why didn't you lead the river? You hit a great card! Easy, but aggravating fold on river if popped. As played, I think it's an auto call and expect to lose a bunch.

It was a great card, but I like to bluff catch in these situations as I don't like to bet fold, as I think it's exploitable since my range should be pretty capped here with AJ being the very top. So since I was in bluff catch mode, I called:

Results:

Spoiler:
V has 22 for flopped set, and takes the pot

You played to bluff catch, he valued bet.

Think you both played the hand well.

Agree, cant say much more than this.Have to lead, his worst hands can call your bet but they wont neccessarily bet after a check

you don't bet the turn as V?I like his line if he knows hero is aggressive and will blast river(but he doesnt know) and the board is now v drawy,Id just naturally bet that turn.

check/call the river is too conservative IMO. It means that when you bet you are super polarized. I think b/f is better than c/c given the stack sizes and the action until now.

The Ad isn’t enough to jam this river, no ones folding a flush in this spot.

+1 although I prefer a small bet with intention to call a raise at some frequency depending on sizing. I don't hate x/c river at a minority frequency, but I don't think it's a pure call due to sizing. Would be a good one to run - will try if I can catch up on my own hh's
