Villain is Andy Philachuck (sp?) of Texas with over a million dollars in earnings on Hendon Mob. Very aggro so far and loose. He's new with a 30k starting stack so he just fired another bullet.

BB 1200. He makes it 3k utg and I call with 44 on button and 155 behind. My image is pretty tight but Andy hasn't been at the table long. BB joins us.

3 way flop of 986 two clubs. I check it through.

Turn pairs the 9 and puts up another flush draw. Andy bets 5500 after the bb checks. I think a bit and calls. BB drops.

River 3 and both flush draws miss. He bets 15k and stares me down intently. Would he ever play an overpair in this manner?

Any analysis appreciated.

If you range him on overpairs, can you explain your call ott?
What's your range pre and postflop on this spot?
If I'm V I would play the same any 9x.

I would fold pre, probably folding turn. If he has a hand like A hi he will be looking to get to a cheap showdown and thats about all you beat.

V only have 30BB on utg, i think even a lag player cannot play too loose in this situation.

over pair is in V's range, but i think V should've check-call the river, so V can seduce a bluff from a missed flush draw, same with A hi

just from a beginner

Why fold pre?

You really don't see the objections for calling pre? We expect our opponent to cbet a good % and we can only continue if we flop a 4 or on some rare flops like 235, 662, etc. We just fold on the flop about 80% of the time, it's not a moneymaker. If it is somehow just barely +cEV because of reading skills or whatever we still don't want to call because the spot is not +EV enough.

Also, what do we beat otr ? JTs ? Not to mention we have some 9x that x/b flop.

Cause a 25bb stack opened utg. At least 3b gii if you want to continue and think he's just spazzing and tilting during reentry. Not saying that's what I'd do
