Big hand early in the tourney Big hand early in the tourney

I played the Bay 101 open this past weekend. Very early on in the tourney I had the following hand. Villain covered me but we were both basically close to starting stacks, 20,000 chips.

Blinds 100/100 with 100 Big Blind ante.

Villain is UTG+1. Opens for 300 chips.

Folds to me in MP1 and look down at two red Kings. I 3-bet to 1200.

Folds back to Villain and he 4-bets to 3300. Since we are still relatively deep, I decide to call here and take a flop in position. I figured if I shove here, I am only called by Aces and maybe AK suited.

Flop (6,900): Qs 9s 6c.

Villain bets out 2000. I call.

Turn (10,900): Qs 9s 6c 6d

Villain bets 4000. I call.

River (18,900): Qs 9s 6c 6d Js

Villain shoves. Hero?

If I had the King of spades this would be easier, but with two red Kings, this is a very tough spot.

Feels very value heavy, you beat practically nothing. Feels like an easy fold. AA/QQ/JJ,AKss can all take this line.

I don't see anything else in V's range besides some insane spaz with AK, TT or a small pair like 44 or 55. Even AQ here would be being massively overplayed. AQ is practically the only hand that can even try to get 3 streets of value here, and even that would be awfully ambitious.

Heh, I played this tourney too, busted 2 hrs in.

I know you're new to the table, but what is villains physical appearance? There are lots of players in this field I'd be fine 5bet/getting it in with KK for 200 BBs against. Last year in a Lucky Chances $1k I shrug called off a 250 BB 5bet from UTG+2 after 4betting KK from UTG, he had 99 lol. Bay Area players are wild.

If the guy is an OMC we of course want to be calling the 4bet though.

Flop/turn are fine, river is a fold I think. We should have some QQ and maybe AKss in this spot, so it's not as if we're folding the top of our range.

This seems like one of those hands where it is important to remember that you cannot win a tournament in the early stages, you can only lose one.

I would fold the river and move on. You still have about 100 big blinds, you're not doomed if you give it up.
