Hi,

This is not an interesting spot, is just a shove pre. The table was kinda fishy, I just would like to know if there is a better way to play this hand. It is the bottom range for shoving with 17bb utg 7 handed, but can I fold it if I consider I have an edge over the majority of players? There were 22 players left, should we try lower variance plays? Thanks

Fold preflop, shoving in this position A9s is horrible

A bit confused on the shove here. I would be folding this pre, without question in such a position.

open/fold to shove. shoving is basically going to looose more often then not.

When you shove, you are only getting called by better hand like AQ+, 99+

If everybody folds you add 2.5 bbs, you can get there with lower variance play specially this deep.

Still learning, but is that mainly because of the stack sizes at the table? and do we not take into consideration the current table image OP has of the other players?

even if u do not have an edge on the field, open jamming A,9s utg for 17bb is just bad . rather fold> raise > all in

GTO seems to raise/fold this so why would you openfold in the big22
    openshoving is obviously terrible though

I think its either not so obvious or not so terrible. Readless its not smth Id like to do, but I think we can have shoving range under some circumstances with sticky players behind with huge stacks.
And if its the case then A9s can be in it.

In some circumstances can be ok, as you say, but vs a random table and with fishy players like OP described... is a bad play. You will find better spots for sure.
