I'm thinking about going down to Florida to play in the $600 buy-in $500k Guaranteed tournament in a couple weeks.

I've played a lot of online tourneys, but only one live tournament and haven't ever played in one of these types of large-field multi-day tournaments.

Just wondering what might be a good training course/program for this type of tournament -- Thanks!

Hi Jack, welcome to the forum

If you’ve played $50 online mtts at a +ROI over any significant recent sample, then you’ll have an edge v $500 live field

Start with a regular 100bb+ gto strat v unknowns, but adjust as the table presents itself.

At a guess, you’ll be going for thin value and oversizing early v inelastic stations, then increase your bluff frequency later on as recs get tight towards pay jumps.

Gl gl and let us know how you get on

P.S. if you’re hanging for some additional advice / charts then upswing lab mtt section is ok

For some reason it tilts me when ppl buy into a big mtt they want to start “training” like there’s some magic wand/resource that’s gonna change something. If anything it’s bad to start trying to implement new ideas into your game because usually you’re not gonna understand wtf is going on for a while anyway and it’s gonna make you play worse.
Just go bring an extra 600 so you have a second bullet. Have a few drinks and play your normal game and have fun and try to run good.
If you actually want to get better buy pio solver and a rio elite membership and start playing as much as you can and plug the spots you don’t understand into pio and stay away from this forum cuz its 90% bad advice here

A $22 MTT on ACR is probably tougher than a large field $400-$600 live event.

Online is a great way to practice relatively cheaply, but live is where the money is.

+1 from personal experience

Probably the fastest way to get good quickly is to do a TON of work with a really good high stakes solver based player, if you can find one willing to discuss hands with you, and go through your hand histories with a fine tooth comb with him/her and pio simultaneously

All excellent suggestions, tho I believe OP is requesting info about live v online strat, not how to play mtts

Only mentioned upswing because they have strat vids directly related to wsop live prep

You're playing against a bunch of ******s. Go have a drink, enjoy yourself, and hopefully run good.
