Not sure I call pre here out of SB with J8o. Once you call to see flop and turn, you're going to lose much of, if not your entire stack.

Sure - I tend to be a bit more agg defensively from blinds, esp with 40+ in BB and here I'm right on that line. Also it's UTG1 open and fold to me, so good chance of being 2 handed to flop.

Main question is .... Is there any way I find a fold on the river? I don't think so but not sure.

Unless you have a superhuman read, you can't get away from it.

I don’t know if j8 makes it into the sb defend range vs utg. J10s I think gets vpiped but j8 I think it’s probably losing.

I fold J8o from SB. Its a call for me in the BB (usually)

As played I don't see how we get away from this. The only hands that seriously improved on the river are 97s/55. Otherwise we block JJ/88. 22 is unlikely from EP.

Its just bad luck on the turn.

J8o is a fold pre here. You are supposed to fold pre here from the small blind. Just going to get smashed oop from the small blind here.

So to answer your question, you are not supposed to go bust here. You fold pre and move to next hand.

You shouldn't be defending with junk from the SB. Your SB range should be similar to your BTN range. You are getting better pot odds but are OOP. This is probably a defend from the BB against the small sizing with ante.
