Re: acr milly river spot

doesn`t look gross, hand is in the bottom half of your range and a bad catcher.

2x pre bc PIO said so or a sign of a modern warrior?

Re: acr milly river spot

Idk of i don’t think it matters that much and it’s just easier to balance my strat then typing in buttons while multitasking. It’s not like regs are defending any less vs 2.2-2.5 x
I’m interested in turn as well if we like Bet small/f

Re: acr milly river spot

I like b/f something small ott

Here’s a similar spot late day 1 ausmil opening event:

I defend 78s BB v good LAG, both deep
Flop 45Jsxx I cc
Turn 8x we chk thru
River 4 I make the same mistake you make above and chk, letting V overbet shove for easy chips.

In your hand the decision comes ott IP, but principle is same

Cliffs: small b/f keeps monsters in your range, a useful thing vv aggros

Spots don't seem the same at all. OP got 3bet from bb and was in position post flop (didn't have the opportunity to bet or check river). As played, I fold river in original post. He should never be light here. You're basically praying he has AdKx.

Re: acr milly river spot

Are we checking back our queens or flush draws on this turn? Seems like JJ might be the top (near the top) of our range on the river.

Re: acr milly river spot

Pre is fine, could go slightly bigger. Flop is standard enough.

Not sure what a turn bet accomplishes, especially a small one. I guess you could sort-of deny equity to draws and Ax/Kx exactly, but we block straight draws and how many flush draws does villain have in 3-bet range when we know the Q, J and T are all out? Maybe you get 88 or 99 exactly to call if those hands are even in villain's 3-bet range pre.

River is yuck. Since we're unlikely to have AA or KK, we should have some trapped Tx and Qx that can call the overbet. We may not need to call with Jx and in terms of bluff catching, our hand is meh as it blocks flushes but also blocks busted straight draws that might take this line.

Re: acr milly river spot

Yeah well those two posts above me basically is wat I was thinking
I feel like I just can call qx which I’ll have a lot of and this be the best hand I fold
Don’t like my combos as a bluff catcher think it has some bad blocker effects.

Betting turn seems really out of rhythm given that this is a 3B pot and we're OOP. I don't mind a small lead on the river and if we get jammed on then, it's an easy fold.

But yes, it's a gross spot. Fact that we have Jd makes it slightly less likely that he has a flush, also don't think he's going to check that back on the turn when board pairs. Seems like his hand is very heavily weighted to KK+ and boats.

Re: acr milly river spot

Turn bet /f can make it tougher on opp since I can have a little qqq and plenty of 10x so it makes it a little easier to show down otr since he could likely do a bunch of checking otr after I bet

Re: acr milly river spot

what does b/f turn accomplish outside of getting Ax/Kx to fold? All hands that beat you we are giving away $ to, and any draws are still coming along. If he hits his draw maybe he goes for c/r so we check back and get to see it? I think it's rare that he bluffs here. Wp imo, lost min

Re: acr milly river spot

See my previous post on this topic^
Also when he checks it makes his range look like a lot of ak which he plays this way almost always like this. Getting value/protection from these hands is pretty good for me

Re: acr milly river spot

fold river and nh, he doesn't have worse often enough to warrant a call, we can have some flushes, boats and AQ here, even some overpairs.
