What does Villain have here and what is our calling range. Tough for me to range these really big ships because I haven't seen a lot of them until recently

obviously, but where do you draw the line? whats your full calling range?

Is 77+,ATs+,AQo+ too tight?

I think 77-99, ATs/AJs feels a little wide to be calling off 43bb, I could be wrong tho. I think TT+ AQ+, and make a tight fold with the rest of the range you listed.

That seems about right BTN versus BB. I would call loosely with pps, as this should rarely be JJ+.

I expect him to have a lot of pairs maybe 55-TT, Maybe JJ. middling hands that don’t want to 3bet like AQo AJo, bluffs like A5s, A4s. I would weight heaviest towards medium pairs.
Our calling range has to beat that so probably 77 or 88+, AJs+ Or ATs+, I think folding KQs? That’s close and maybe nitty. AQo calling
Main factor is knowing if this guy 3bets smaller with his premiums like AA and KK and shoves middling hands because then we can call a little wider knowing he’s not nutted and solve for that range

Calling off here with KQs or A10s seems insane to me.

I agree with the others that this is often a small/medium pocket pair, but I’ve also seen players do it with JJ, AK. Generally I hate his shove. I’d consider jamming those 77-99 hands with 40-50bbs when there is at least one caller and we’re squeezing.

FWIW, Acevedo's ranges do have a 40BB shove over a button raise.

It pure shoves 77,66. It shoves about 1/2 the time with 88,55,33,22. For unpaired hands it has about 1/2 AQo, AJo, A2o and a tiny fraction of K7s

Against unknown I'm gonna be pretty tight here but dep who it is. Off the top of my head Id go with 99+ AQo+ AJs+ I know AJs/99 are a bit sketchy but I expect to see some random hands here.
