last two tournaments i went busto shipping like a mid pair into a opener from a normal player and ran into a big pair both times on like a 15-20 bb stack.

so i am questioning how good of a play this is?

i mean flatting 7s even in position seems kind of insane because so many flops where we don't hit our set we will just be guessing and folding 7s kind of hurts unless we just know the opener is that tight.

We don't know because there are many variables that you're leaving out.

Did they open from UTG or the BTN or somewhere in between?

What was their stack size?

Are you in the money, near it, or far from money?

Do you have an edge over the rest of the table (I'm guessing probably not because of the way you asked this question).

You can do more than flat or jam 7's like fold.

There are also tools that can help you figure out spots like these like HRC.
