365 WSOPC monster stack

I know what I think I should have done here but want to make sure I am not just looking at results.

Starting stacks
Hero 35k
V1 18k
V2 1800

Blinds 100/200

Hero on button, V1 in MP, V2 LP

EP player makes it 600, V1 calls, V2 shoves for 1800. Hero has JJ.

I chose to raise here to isolate all in and squeeze other 2 out. Hero raises to 3500

EP folds, V2 shoves for 18k.

Reads:
V2 has been tight all day. I would classify him as kind of TAG and sometimes a little passive. Not getting out line and has never taken a line like this.

Before I say what my thought process was and what I did I would love thoughts.

Re: 365 WSOPC monster stack

Ok maybe I should have put more details.

I thought about it for a minute and eventually ended up folding. V1 had AK, V2 had AQ. Board ran out what would have been safe.

I knew that the normal thing people would have in that situation was AK, maybe AQ suited, and pocket pairs up to JJ. I had JJ so was thinking TT or lower or AK. The thing that swayed me to fold was he had been so tight and a little passive that maybe he was slow playing AA preflop. I know that is typically not what I would expect but those were my thoughts. I still had 150 BB's at the time as well. He shoved for almost 100 BB's. I felt like I had a decent edge at this table and did not want to risk what may be a coin flip.

Re: 365 WSOPC monster stack

Being this deep I think we can just flat the 1800 shove and fold to the shove from the 18K stack if they decide to do that.

As played we should probably make it bigger than 3500 pre and I'm folding to a shove from the 18K stack. But this is why flatting pre would be better because we would get to realise our equity.

Re: 365 WSOPC monster stack

My thoughts on flatting pre is I would have invited the other 2 in. I was trying to isolate V2. Would we really want to play a multi way pot with JJ? I guess I see your point though. Oh I guess I should have said the original raiser only had around 10k so much smaller stack. If he shoved I was ok with calling. Plus he had been so loose he could have had a lot of combos.

I thought you played it well (assuming you folded to the shove). I assume in the OP you meant to say that V1 shoved over the top of your raise?

EP's stack is important as are his tendencies.

I would not raise to 3,500 here. Its not enough. If I am raising and EP has less than 18,000 I would jam. Otherwise I would just flat the 1,800. I would only jam if I was confident that EP was raising wide here.

This post is dead-on.

EP's range seems to be getting lost in your post and thought-process. I realize EP ultimately folded in-hand but we did not know that prior to our decision to iso-raise.

I like flatting V2's jam because JJ's strength has shriveled up a bit in this spot. We are facing a EP open (generally strong to begin with), then we have an MP flatter, and then a shover. Plus we have a active vills behind. All of this adds up to high degree of uncertainty (and variance), so I would like to flat-call with JJ and keep control of the pot size.

Re: 365 WSOPC monster stack

The problem with flatting the 1800 is that a lot of players will then 4b light to try to re-isolate against the all-in player by making us now fold. Which is fine if we are inducing that action, but it sounds like some would then advocate folding to that 4b. Calling the 1800 and folding to 4b I definitely do not like.

I think this is my line as well. We can jam for 18K effective and be in reasonably decent shape even against a tight calling range. Anything more than 18K then it gets dicey.

Re: 365 WSOPC monster stack

As played I worry about the EP here, I think the reraise is marginal.

As played, I think I call this off. Villain should be capped since he just called initially.Perhaps TT-QQ, AK, AQ, or a complete steal with some nonsense, though that seems unlikely given read.
