Hero (seat 9) is Big Blind.

Seat 1 raises for 3+BB, seat 4 calls, folded around to Hero with QQ.

Hero did not play with either seat 1 or 4 before the final table and so has very little read on them other than physical which is late 50's+ male in both cases. They likewise have little to no read on Hero who is early 50's male. Hero recently raised on the button and took the blinds.

Hero is not really interested in laddering a spot or two, but wants to make a run at the top money, by which I mean 3rd or better.

With those considerations, what is Hero's best play and why?

You should be getting your 18bb shove called by the vast majority of an UTG raiser's range, and I don't think QQ is a hand you want to see an overcard on the flop with 3ways OOP. Tripling up is not the goal here. Just shove and if they fold, you increase your stack about 50% which is huge.

Snap jam

Always jam. Can't call and see three-way flop. Raise to 8BB still leaves only half-pot bet for post-flop.

If you shoved it was the correct play - unlucky that you ran into kings or aces, but he's calling with a lot you beat also.

Jam and spike a Q in the door OTF if you need it.

Results: I went all in. Seat 1 agonized and folded what he said was KK. Seat 4 snap called with AK.

Further thought...What do people think of Seat 4's play?

Seat 4's play is irrelevant compared to seat 1 folding KK for 18bbs. Are you serious? In a $350 final table? With payjumps and nobody else calling at that point? Where does this guy play? I want in. He didn't show it though so he's obviously full of ****.

To answer you, though, nothing wrong at all with seat 4 calling. Now, if seat 1 reshoved, then he might consider folding AK. It would be really close.

I mean, you are certainly experienced enough to know that in that precise spot regarding all the inputs, you have to jam.

Knowing if KK boy did a correct fold? I highly doubt he had the hand he said he had. That would be one of the most horrible fold ever made...

Sanity Check. This game has evolved a lot over the 35 years I have played it. What was 100% correct is now not, etc. As a result I think it can be good to check my play against the current conventional wisdom.

I think I did the 100% correct thing with a poor outcome. Doesn't hurt to ask though.
