330$ live tourney with 1m gtd, AKo 40bb effective spot

Day 1 of a multi day event

9 handed, towards the last few levels of day 1

main vilain (utg+3, 40bbs) 50 yr old passive amateur
Passive player preflop, usually limps or raises 2.5-3x blinds

Utg limps ( amateur player, never has a big hand if he limps)
Main vilain raises 7x blinds

Hero (lojack , 60bbs) has AKo, is this an auto shove or is calling or even folding better?

I think its jam > fold > call. 7x is just too much to flat profitably 40bb eff imo.

I think Id just make it like 18bb and call a jam, and if he somehow flats I'd jam any flop.

If we are jamming any flop why not just jam now? It seems a lot more likely that you are folding people off pocket pairs now than after the flop (unless you hit the A or the K.)

Just how I'm constructing my 4bet range. I also think a rec player is much more likely to hero fold 99-JJ here (what I'd assume a 7x raise is) if we 4bet to a nutted sizing rather than a jam. I agree we can probably have an exploitative 4bet range where we jam AK and 4bet small with KK+, but the number of folds you get live from 4betting this size is immense.

Since the SPR is so low even if v somehow flats (not that they really ever should) we're not in danger of getting blown off our equity on bad flops.

And it has the added advantage of letting u pretend to puke-check Axx flops with a look of ‘pocket Ks are fkg A magnets man’
