Blinds 1k/2k/2k. Me 175k, SB 130k
SB middle aged man, looks a bit fishy but this is only my 2nd hand at this table.

I open UTG with KQo to 5k. SB and BB both call.

Flop KJ8r (pot 17k). I bet 8k. SB call, BB folds.

Turn KJ8Q (pot 33k) bringing a flush draw. I bet 25k. Villain calls.

River KJ8Q8 (pot 83k), no flush. Villain insta-jams for around pot-sized bet. Hero?

Fold river.

Pre is fine.

Fold river.
I think it's a little tougher than that. What value jams on the river make sense for V's line? T8? T9? AT? J8? A8s or suited connector with an 8 that turns flush draw? (unless 8 on flop was one of the flush cards). I think we would have heard from JJ pre-flop or on flop. I think we would have likely heard from 88 sooner too. I don't think random is likely calling Q8s or K8s from SB vs your UTG raise. Also, I don't think most players are jamming str8 or trips here given your range is more nutted.

What are V's bluffs? Certainly TT, JT, QT, KT all block str8. Possibly Q9s or K9s that turns the flush draw? His range certainly has more 8s, so that could induce a thinking player to bluff those hands.

For me, it would be really tough here? How close to the bubble? How was your stack? Against random who is "a little fishy", I'd lean towards fold but it's tough.

A long way from bubble. Stacks posted at the beginning of the hand. I started with about 90bb, villain 70bb.

I can give you plenty of reads on villain after the hand but at the time this was only my 2nd hand so my reads are just based on table manner etc

I’d call and not really be worried about it his line is pretty silly - I’d expect to see more straights than anything but I’m not really folding here

I folded river and he showed JJ for a flopped set, rivered boat.

Random live players don't bluff shove on rivers very often I guess..

Only the 4th nuts. I can see why he would shove for protection.
