$200 MTT on Ignition
Hero 19k, Villian 30k

Blinds 250-500

Cutoff opens 1100
Hero-Button- calls 1100 w/ 98cc

Flop 10h 7c 4h

Cutoff continues 1200
Hero calls 1200

Flop 10h 7c 4h 8h

Cutoff tank/bets 2850
Hero calls 2850

River 10h 7c 4h 8h 2c pot 11.5k

Cutoff overbet pot jams 13k to put Hero all-in

What is 3 barreling here for value and never slowing down?

Overpairs are never 3 barreling here so that leaves big suited flushes. I find people with sets in these situations will check river to bluff catch, not overbet jam the pot. I really don't think he has a set here which means his range is super narrow. And when people have super narrow ranges I tend to call them down.

I legit used my whole time bank debating calling but maybe I'm just being stupid. I eventually folded but felt exploited a bit.

We have to find some calls her with some 10s, right? But probably no 8s?

Bluffs would be any AhXx/KhXx hand that he wants to bluff the flush.

fold turn most likely
definitely not hero-calling river without some very strong reads

can see V playing this way with every hh combo

That's nitty - mid pair and open-ender to a half-pot bet size?

I guess it's just a fold but there has to be some calling range with non-flushes or it seems exploitable. 10-8, 8-7 are the only two pairs I'd be in that situation with preflop.

Ace 10 with ace of hearts seems like a call. King 10 with king of hearts is a call.

Maybe that's a wide enough calling range that we're just folding every single 8 here.

agree this is easier to call turn with 2pr and AhTx and similar, but these hands can improve to beat a flush (when V bombs river), and have significant sdv (when V checks river)

89 could be the ultimate RIO hand, in that it could improve to a worse hand and have poor SDV against V's river check range.

V definitely has some air in his range here, but we're pure gambling.

Spoiler:
However...I've also been known to like pure gambling...

Seems like a pretty clear turn call and a fairly clear fold on the river.

While we do have some removal on the river (blocking 96s and J9s) I'm not sure we have to call with any of our 8x here to a triple barrel. I think hands like T9 and JT make better bluff-catch candidates as they make it less likely our opponent has a better top pair and less likely they have a straight. Not having a heart is also somewhat relevant as well.
