Played this hand in a satellite to an $1100 WPT Main Event.
Hero (MP) 20bbs
Villain (Button) 50bbs
BB 5bbs
Villain playing tight poker, recently ran up his stack from 10bbs to 40bbs over the course of about five hands. Three of them were tabled and were all middle pairs or better. No reason to believe he's playing loose at this point - he just appears to be on a heater. My table image is tight, maybe weak-tight, as I've only played two other hands in two orbits since I was moved to the table, and folded to flop bets both times.
There are 57 players left out of 139 entries, and the top 10% (13) get buy-ins to the main event.
It's folded around to me, just before the HJ. I open to 2.25bbs with K
J
Button flats, and BB flats for about half of his stack.
Flop comes 9
2
3
BB checks, I c-bet 4.5bbs into about a 7bb pot. Button thinks for about 5 seconds, asks BB how much he's playing, and calls. BB folds.
Turn A
I assess that the button is playing a wide range of hands without an Ace due to his stack size (table chip leader) and would not call my c-bet on the flop with a hand like AK/AQ/AJ. Obviously hands like A
Q
or A
J
could come along, but I'm also pot committed at this point and hoping I can get a fold or a call from a draw. I shove for my remaining 13bbs or so (less than pot).
Is this too laggy on my part?
