Hi!

I'd like to know your opinion about this specific hand.

109 Bounty Builder on Stars, 55 players left, 161 places payed.
Avg around 75k, its a new table, played just few hands, payjumps are not big, only FT pays good.
At the table the biggest bounty is on me.
With Villain we have no history, but I've played with him for like 80 hands, and he is a good, pretty agressive player.

Well, it kinda seems standard to me, but was this the right play?
What would ya'll do differently?

Thanks guys!

The hand:

1. What do you think his 3bet range is here?
2. Does he ever fold a better hand when you ship here?
3. How many worse hands call off when you ship here?
4. You say he is "a good, pretty agressive player.", how light do you think he is 3betting you from SB in a HU pot? There are no callers between you providing dead money or squeeze dynamics.

This is a mistake I used to make very often when playing against someone who I perceived as competent and aggressive; I would always think they are doing some next level sh*t, when in reality they are playing their cards pretty face up.

I probably call and evaluate on flop/turn.

pretty standard in bb... he should 3b/call you with this stack depth with AQ 99 for sure, even wider. my guess is that the EVs of flatting the 3b and 4b shoving are pretty similar

Well, i think his 3b range would be: 77+ AJo+ A10s+, KQs, maybe KQo.
And because its a bounty bouilder, and I had the biggest bounty, it would also be his 3b call range, he would probably not have a 3b fold range here, maybe a few Ax hands.
Against such a range, I have well over 50%, and that very little fold equity.

Probably the EV of flatting and shoving is the same, but I'd feel pretty unconfortabe flatting here. There is no good flop, only when i hit a J.
We are not deep enough.
I call a cbet on the flop with low cards, and he shoves the turn then what?!?
Probably comes a higher card on the flop, then its also not easy to play.

Mjones what you say, is that its a mistake that getting too much into leveling sh*t, well I made that mistake way too many times too...
You are right, no other caller, and would be much different scenario if he was the button for example.
Would you ever fold in such a spot? I actually would... To call off 7,5 bb with a 36bb stack, then probably comes a 6-10bb cbet. It is my half stack already.

I'm also quite sure, that he would shove AK AQ on the turn as well as the overpairs.

Can also be that his 3b range is much tighter, and in such a spot would be 10-10+ AQo+ AK or such.

What your 3bet range would be in this spot?

I think you are ranging him way too wide. I'd give him a 3b range here of TT+/AQ+.

With that noted, I think this is a spot you want to flat for the following reasons:

1. You are in position.

2. He won't call your 4b shove with anything you beat except AK/AQ, which are flips.

3. You still have a workable stack if you lose. Given the flop, you probably get stacked here anyway, but i'd favor flatting over 4b jam.
