$100k Guarantee
Top 6 advance to Day 2 ITM. 7 players remaining.

Blinds: 2k/4k 4k BB ante

Villian 1: 38k (hj)Just lost 80% of stack vs. Hero where we called his 3 barrel bluff on a dry board with two pair. Doesn't seem tilted and is a good player, a bit on the looser end.
Villian 2: 180k (btn)Easily tilted, spewy and is very exploitable. Hates folding and will take ATC to the flop at any blind level. Will check down with us regardless of holdings to eliminate V1 & because we're friendly.
Hero: 170k (SB) TAG, playing on the tighter end. Just doubled last hand vs. V1.

V1: Jams pre for 38k total
V2: Calls without much hesitation
Hero: Still stacking chips from the last hand looks down @ AK

Keeping in mind ICM implications and us having V2's range more than likely dominated what's the best move here? Call or shove? Thanks for your input as always.

How can we do that without knowing the other stack sizes?

I guess positions and stacks are hard to see? It's all in the original post.

op they mean the other stack sizes like is there someone else really short as well.

i am not folding pre.

id raise cuz ak, if we make the stubborn guy fold his hand and get to go vs the short stack where we are way ahead of his shoving range thats a huge win. and if we get called well we will be flipping most of the time and if not, that's poker...

we are for sure ahead of both guys ranges.

plus its not even a real money bubble its just to make it to the next day

Day2 equals ITM If I'm reading OP correctly. But to clarify: Would you cash when finishing 6th but busting in this hand?

It sounds like you shoved, Villain called w something like 55 and you busted OP. I don't really see a reason not to shove tbh, esp if villain is as spewy as you say

BB has 70k behind, we're 3/4th in chips and V1 is shortest, with BB 2nd shortest. I think raising is correct here as well. Are you jamming? I can't see us raising anything other than all-in.

Wrong. We won this hand, I just want to know what others would do in the situation. And I'm not sure what would happen there considering 6th advances to day 2 and would cash. Maybe a min cash, you just get it without having to show up for day 2?

I would jam without hesitation. You have AKs and if you get v2 to fold you are playing for a massive pot where you are way ahead of initial shovers range which is a dream scenario.

I’m sure you got unlucky and ran into a big hand but you can’t be results orientated in tournaments. This is a great spot to plop it in. I think flatting is rough bc when you don’t hit flop, post flop play is really ugly here and can be super awkard.

I'm calling with this hand.

Normally shoving in the SB would be automatic because it would negate positional disadvantage and maximize fold equity. But here we will have virtually no positional disadvantage, because neither of us should ever be bluffing into a dry side pot. So a bet always indicates strength and no bets lets us see all 5 cards.

And if we get called shoving we may very well get knocked out by a PP. And we risk getting knocked out of the tourney on the bubble because of the stack sizes.

I elected to call but looking back on it I think I should've shoved. We would've had V2 more than likely fold or call off with much worse. Flip side of it is we easily could've been up against 2 pocket pairs and could be flipping on the stone bubble being 3rd in chips.

Our Hand: AK
V1: 33
V2: AJ

Board ran out with us rivering the nut flush. Check/check flop & turn, then we jammed river. Really can't decide if I missed value here (not just in this scenario but over the long-term) by being passive with AK pre.

V2 is not calling off with much worse. I doubt V2 would call a shove with AQ here. So my guess is you would be flipping at best and possibly getting crushed by a slow played KK/AA.

Now its possible that you could get V2 to fold a hand like 88/99/TT and V1 could have had the AJ. So you could improve your chances of winning the pot substantially by shoving. But at the same time if V2 has JJ+ you now put yourself in jeopardy of bubbling. And unless V2 flops a set or an overpair and bets out, you get to see all 5 cards as was the case.

Still, its close for me and if I had slightly more chips than V2 I would have shoved as well.

I think the dry side pot dynamic and the bounties make this interesting. If we think V2 is going to play very straightforward on the flop and beyond (i.e., only betting when has a strong hand) I can see calling making some sense as a way to minimize variance. However, besides the fact we have some fold equity (V2 folding any PP is a good thing) if we shove, even if we get called we can win a huge side pot some percentage of the time despite losing the main.

If we had more chips than V2 I would shove almost 100% of the time. It's a little closer since V2 has us covered, but even then shoving should be the more profitable play.

I think I prefer a shove here. Folding is out of the question. Even though this is the bubble, this is your chance to pick up a massive amount of chips.

If you flat, what happens on a low flop and villain checks to you?

Blocking an attempt to trap by V2 w/ AA's KK's and knowing that 1010's-QQ's will not be in V2 flatting range most of the time, I feel like we rather go for it pre. V2 might even fold and we d pick up a free 30% equity. When called and in a cf situation, we ve decent odds to ship a significant pot. I d shove pre
