Anyone play in the Richmond area? I'm stuck 5 hrs. away from Charleston or AC, and would love to find a home game or two to play in. I'm pretty much happy with anything at this point, but something along the lines of $1/2 NL would be perfect.

If nothing, anyone interested in getting a game going?

They play bar poker at the "Pump and Pour house" in Short pump. You could talk to the people there to see if anyone plays outside the bar.

Played there. They draw 90 names and go. No entry fee. Good prizes. Decent competition, lots of donks as can be expected.

Only drawback is the thick cigarette smoke - you stink like smoke when you leave.

Hey, this looks like a thread I tried like a year ago.

I'm in Richmond and always looking for a game, FWIW.

Seriously? Free poker. Ugh.

I've actually played at Banditos, like twice, just because I like the place, but free poker is a complete waste of time, IMO.

It's not free, they charge you for drinks and food.

The house pays out cash prizes to the winner, and other prizes to 2-5th place.

They've also given away entries and hotel accommodations to WSOP tournaments in AC.

FWIW,

I saw this listing:

City Richmond (Fan/Museum District)
When Nights Vary - 2 per month
Cash Games $0.50-$1 NL Holdem
Tourneys $40 NLHE
# of players 8-16 (24 Max)
Age of players 25-35 (with a few exceptions)

I have played in this game once. Everybody was nice and friendly, but it runs on and off.

Any of you guys ever been to this? Not sure this is legal in Virginia, but seems like a pretty sizable setup.

I live in the hampton roads area, just a few minutes from the portsmouth poker lounges. There actually are two similar places locally.
http://thepokerpalace.net/
They have both tourneys and cash games every week.
The 1-2 & 2-5 cash games have a serious time charge (charity donation) of $8 per half hour so it is extremely hard to beat the rake despite the relatively poor play.

Interesting. Do they claim this is legal?

Jesus Christ @ that rake. I'm thinking the 5k guaranteed on the 28th might be fun though.

I headed out to Norfolk in 2 weeks, I am probably going to check this out. One room had a $5 time rake (same as Foxwoods last time I was there), I saw the $8 rake, no thank you for me. I am going to check some rooms out. I am very intrested.

I will let you know. Action should be good. Max buyin of 100bb seems like it should be a good game.

I keep it posted
