I have been up in South Carolina for a few years now and when I was in GA there were games everywhere, but I don't know of any here. Anyone else know?

i know theres a lot in lancaster? i live in charlotte and i know of plenty of ppl who play right across the border into sc

Because poker is illegal in SC and there have been several police raids in recent history, the games are all invite only. You will need some type of established history as a real poker player with no connections to law enforcement before anyone will even begin to talk to you.

There's certainly video poker in SC. There was a fascinating article titled "Busted Flush" in Harper's a few years back that discussed the rise of video poker machines there.

Javi is probably correct. I live in the upstate and know of regular games on most nights of the week. However, they are run pretty well with a tight crowd hesitant to let randoms into the scene. There have been robberies and busts made at various places over the past couple years and it's not without risk.

I am in the upstate. Columbia is a little far unless it is a weekend. Could visit family and play poker. Win Win.

if you're in the upstate greater greenville area you could play everyday of the week and usually have a couple games to chose from...most of the games are a big group of the same ppl....they mostly play 1/2 NL and most places are pretty secure these days....they had some robberies and busts over the last couple years so ppl are becoming better about security

Well geez guys,

If there are enough of us that are looking in the upstate and nobody has any clue where to go, maybe we should just start a new game somewhere.

I've got a nice set of chipco chips in denominations to have a decent sized cash game....

Any thoughts?

Yes I heard about that again on the news this morning. I am not sure what is going on in the Upstate but everyone here needs to be careful. Any talk about a home game in upstate we need to PM the details. I might go to one if someone host it but we need to be discrete about it.

I moved into the upstate in the summer of '08 from NJ. The one thing I never took into account was hard-to-find poker games.

Raids? On a home game? Unbelievable...

I'm pretty sure about a year or so ago SC state court ruled poker is a game of skill, thus not 'gambling'.

I would love a PM about games in the upstate taking place. I would really appreciate it.

The one I played in in CHS was busted (with fanfare) several years back. That put the kibosh on another game that was good and stable. I don't know of any in CHS or Myrtle Beach (where I am now).
