Hi,

We are a group of poker players who play tournaments from Aug - May and send the top players to wsop 1k event.

From the website:

http://piranhapokerteam.com/

The Piranha Poker Team is an entity made up of aspiring amateur poker players who compete against each other for points throughout the year via a series of live multi-table No Limit Hold’em tournaments held all over the Bay Area. At the end of the season, the team sends its highest point scorers to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas (all expenses paid), where they compete in a $1,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em bracelet tournament. Any prize money generated by the team’s representatives at the WSOP is split in half -- 50% of it belonging to the player who placed in the money at the WSOP, and the other 50% split evenly among all other Piranha Poker Team members.

We're a bunch of friendly people, and we have lots of fun playing together. It is a nice way to meet new people, and the age group and ethnicity is really wide and diverse.

This season start on Aug 28th. Post your questions itt, and I can answer them.

do the events run on a schedule (what is the schedule)?

where exactly do you mean by "all over the bay area"?

what's the points system?

cash prizes at the events, also, or all entry fees going to the league?

vig?

from the website, I can answer some of the questions:

"bay area" is mostly south bay and east bay. it would be too much travel for a san francisco resident, imo. over 1/3 of the events last year were in san jose. They run on weekend afternoons, mostly saturdays.

fortunately, there is a 12-tournament maximum for any one player (of 20 held), so by ignoring the most distant events, you might still be interested.

to be eligible for a wsop seat or share of profits, you must pay for 12 events, whether you play all of them or not. In essence, then, it's a $360 entry fee into the league. No prizes outside the seats and share of horses.

Actually, we want to spread it out more evenly. Last year, we lost a venue in sfo, so we lost out on that. We're still looking for venues in sfo to accommodate players from sfo (there are quite a few actually). Feel free to suggest if you know of any.

This season we have reduced the buy-in from $30 to $25. I think we've increased the tournaments to 14 instead of 12 to be eligible, not sure of that. Will confirm and post.

Private Online tournaments through Pokerstars and Full Tilt. You must have either been a Season 4 full team member or played at least one Season 5 event to play.

I'm interested. Do the entirety of the entry fees go to the WSOP packages for members, or are they used for any other expenses/operating costs?

Cheese-

Yes, all of the entry fees go to the WSOP packages, minus modest fees for rental spaces, playing cards, etc...
We are always looking for cheap or free venues to host our tourneys so that we can maximize the number of people that we can send to the WSOP

We absolutely do not take a rake of any kind and we do not transfer any money over from season to season.

There will be at least 2 events in San Francisco this season. We are always on the lookout for free or low cost venues.

In fact if you can get us a free venue, we will give you a free buy in to that tournament!

We have reduced the buy in to $25. We are keeping the maximum tournaments that you can play in at 12. So the total is $300.

BTW, we also give a modest travel expense of $350 as part of the prize package.

We are about to start our 5th season. Over the past 4 years, we have sent a total of 21 players, with 6 of them cashing bringing home almost 25k.
