Nah all you need is one or two table captains that keep the action moving- theyre annoying but they do get the job done.

in a game like this with 9-10 people it is wise to have/hire someone to deal and keep the game running smoothly and have the dealer do the reminding
Hire a dealer? That would crush my profit margin... maybe I'll teach my girlfriend to deal and have her do it in exchange for hanging out with her mother.

hahaha, this is awesome.

There's a group of us that usually run a 1/2nl game out of Penn's campus, and I know of a few other local games and a suburban club that usually runs 2/5nl. PM me for details.

and yet, a PM would have been much better.

In the future, rook, don't post those kinds of details, even in a semi-safe state such as ours

I'm going to be at this game and I think it's set for 1/2. I think that should be alright, it will be a fun time out to play some games that most people don't usually get to play live(razz for one).

Hope you come

I thought 1/2 horse is what we agreed on- did I miss something?
Philadelphia Home Game Quote
08-31-2007 , 10:28 PM
honestly- if it appears 1/2 isnt high enough Im sure you could all agree to raise to 2/4 if you want-

let people get their feet wet and such..

I hadn't planned on bringing more than 150, you think that's enough with this group if it goes to 2/4?
Philadelphia Home Game Quote
08-31-2007 , 10:30 PM
by then youll be up to 300- so yeah

BrianBnF and pacino- yes, $150 for a $2/4 game is plenty. Generally, think 15-20BB for an initial buy-in, for limit board games (Omaha, hold'em) and maybe 20BB+ for stud games (due to the extra betting round).

Another buy-in behind that in your pocket and you're usually good for a while unless the cards go pretty badly.

My other player won't be there until 7:30 or so, so we'll see what happens with the limits at that point. Our rotation games are typically in the $3/6 range, sometimes with a half-kill, but we'll deal with whatever I'm sure.

Just because I've been saying I would for a while:

Brian (bignads - his choice of name, not mine) hosted another game on Sunday, .25/.50, $100 max. It was good. As usual, he ran a tight ship. He had the cool music playing again, and from what I've heard, the man knows how to make a cup of coffee. (I wasn't permitted to have any, becase he's at war with me - in reality I forgot to ask- ) But the action was good, full table for most of the day, and it all went smooth.
And once again, all other recollections will probably be about hands I played.

I bought in short for like $35, lost it pretty quickly when Esection stacked me. I had the nuts (10 5 on a 5 4 3 board) and I guess he had 6 2 or A 2, or maybe I'm remembering the board incorrectly, but basically, he flopped a straight, I flopped a weak top pair and donked off to him.

After that, I reloaded for $65, the only hand I really remember (weird, because I play a lot of pots) was I had Q 8, bucktotal (Jeremy, aka, the man) raised the flop which was 8 4 (10?), I think I 3-bet him, and he called, and the turn was a Q, and honestly, I don't remember exactly what went down, but maybe he checked, I bet, and he went all in, either way, he went all in, I considered that he might have been drawing to the straight with J9, made a speech about how I think I sucked out pretty bad, and called. And I did, he had 8 4, dos pair on the flop.

Ohh, and then I flopped a 6 high flush against Esection, who flopped a set, moneys were exchanged, like a lot I think, might have been an $80 pot? So I had around $250 after that hand, and one other fellow, Noke, had something over $200, and I was just hoping to get in a big hand with him (I said as much :P ) but it never happened.

All told I luck-boxed my way into a $175 win (must be nice) in perfect timing for my birthday festivities :P

By the by, I've been hosting a weekly game on Thursdays, .10/.20, although I think it's going to be .20/.40 this Thursday, in the 7th and Spring Garden area-ish (not exactly, I'll give more accurate descriptions in PM'S) And Brian seems to be sticking with Sunday games, which are awesome, so let either of us know if you are interested in coming.
