This might not be the place to find them. Have you read the sticky thread about finding games? It might help.

Hello. My name is Raphael Vogel. I am a documentary filmmaker currently studying at Tisch (NYU). I am also an amateur poker player who would like to find some low stakes games (I usually play 0.05-0.10/0.10-0.20 blinds, but I guess I would be willing to invest up to 75 dollars for a full stack) to play while in New York for the summer.
On another note, for my final project at Tisch, I would like to shoot a social-historical documentary on gambling from the 1930's to our present era, how it has evolved through time, and how it mirrors social transformations in the American society. The main focus, however, will go to the game of poker, both because it has been captured very well and many times in American filmography and documentaries, because it is the main cause for the T.V. boom and the rise of online cash games, and lastly and more importantly, because it is a game of skill, therefore proving that with a great knowledge of the game, good bankroll management etc. it is possible to make a living from it without actually "gambling" that much.
I have been lucky enough as to come across your great poker forum on the internet, and was intrigued to the point that it would be great if I could not only play with you guys but also film a private poker game, and possibly interview even some of the players in the game. What are the conditions for which this could be possible? Keep in mind, I would shoot with a very small crew (1-2 people other than myself) and with limited equipment (just one Sony VX1 camera, no lights etc.) in order to not disturb your games and be the less invasive possible. And I can even film alone, if that were better for you guys.
Working towards this goal, I have a couple of requests: where are your next games and at what stakes? Could I come play already today maybe or in the next few days? And if you were to be interested in the project, could I already film on friday morning, or monday/tuesday of next week? I'm sorry to write you with so little warning, but I'd like to underline that your participation in this project would really mean a lot to me.

Thank you so much for your time, and let me know as soon as possible if I can play and if you are interested in being part of my documentary project. If you ever needed any additional information, or a location agreement etc., don't hesitate to ask.

This is my email (tobiar2@hotmail) and this is my cell phone number: 646-717-1096.

Raphael

looking to play live games in nyc?

I host at my house every Thursday and Friday night. It's a .50/1.00 cash game but plays out like 2/5 at times.

It's NO rake. We self deal. I have a nice table.
We usually get a nice turnout of friends.

Anyway, we can add 1-2 regulars if you wanna play. We start every Friday at 10pm and finish 4-5am.

It's in Brooklyn, safe private house.

Email me at NYUpokerclub@gmail.com or text me at 347 770 1535 with your contact info and Ill text you.

I will have to verify you before I invite you to my house of course.

I could be completely wrong and I don't mean to offend you but that's how your post comes across

No more the fact that you posted here, created a new thread, and spammed my inbox all with the same post/message that you've copy and pasted. Also no .50/1 game plays like a 2/5 so that makes your game even more suspicious

Give the guy a break. He listed his game in accordance with forum rules - the rest of you can decide whether or not you want to attend.

But seriously, if you don't like what he's offering then feel free to setup your own game and advertise it here.

Lol what's with all the negativity?

I merely posted an open invite for my home game - no need to discredit me

If you don't wanna play, don't. Nobody is forcing you to come

In any event, we had nice action this past Friday. New players are welcome.

As mentioned, never any rake and it's byob - laid back friendly game. Self-deal

.50/1.00 in Brooklyn
