The title of the video is a little misleading as well. Police threaten Texas poker player?

I assumed he was the police officer and he had her arm handcuffed to his.

It feels like the Go fund me page is to help recoup the business lost since they were opened for like 3 weeks because how are the funds going to help make poker legal in Texas? You would have to fight the city, county, maybe even the State. Could cost hundreds of thousands and would be an extremely hard uphill battle....

PROT was really convenient, but who thought Plano was the best city for this type of thing? Not surprised they shut it down.

Word out of Houston is that D.A. filed charges on POST OAK POKER CLUB in Houston. really sucks cause my favorite place to play there. Table talk of emergency meeting tomorrow so hopefully works out. if shut down didnt take them long at all to go after them

Post Oak screwed themselves. Having news stations run stories on your illegal poker room will get you exactly what you wanted....attention!

The sad thing is that Post Oak has tried to do this the "right way" with a nice place and their entire op is above board while someone like Mint Poker run by a scammer - runs a charity event for JJ WATT and not one dollar went to the charity

How did I know Clive would find a way to bash mint.. I guess we will have to see how this turns out not just for post oak but all of them

lol...it just makes me angry for I don't even post 1/2 of the things I know about mint - the problem is that not enough people get angry about this continuing to operate with all the evidence - but as one player said to me....THE GAMES ARE GOOD

I don't think you have to worry about mint. If these rooms aren't able to stay open we should see them all shut down soon.

I am all in favor of the rake free concept - I know at least 4 owners and operators personally and to date I have not heard one negative thing about the rest of them
Legitimate business people - wanting to run the game we love - of course they are a business to make money but to date there is not one game I have a problem with.

Prosecution would be handled by either the County or District Attorney (depending on whether the DA has a misdemeanor division). Some of the 254 Counties around the State have ALL criminal prosecutions at the felony and misdemeanor level run through the District Attorney while others have misdemeanors prosecuted by the County Attorney.

Within the County, you may have different law enforcement approaches to the same manner of conduct. Thus, what gets you arrested in McKinney might get a warning in Plano while the City Attorney takes steps to use City Ordinances to restrict the ability to conduct business even if the Richardson Police Department did not want to intervene.

In rare instances, you will see the Office of the Attorney General get involved, but those are the exception rather than the norm...that office generally leaves prosecution to the local County officials.

Do the players get a misdemeanor?

I would LOVE to know what streets your are listening to for the current "word". As one of the owners of the Post Oak Poker Club I can assure you and anyone else reading this that there are no charges filed against the Post Oak Poker Club.

Sadly there are game runners and other people who are very jealous of what we have created. They will say anything, post nonsense, and try their very best to tarnish the reputation of our club to keep players from going. There are even ridiculous web sites up and running that claim to be "fighting the good fight" to stop all "legal" poker rooms. (Funny how they do nothing to warn the public about the UG rooms)

We have simply given poker players one more option for a place to play. Some will choose to stay in the under ground scene, some will choose to make the road trip out of state, and some will choose to stop by and check out the Post Oak Poker Club. I guarantee you won't be able to find anything like it anywhere nearby.

Screwed ourselves? Best thing that could have happened to us. Went from 2 tables a night to 7 / 8 tables a night. We are just like any other business and welcomed the news coverage.

If you cut the speculation out of this thread it would be a short read.

as i said....when someone that has nothing to hide...and their good name is tarnished...they will speak up and defend that which they have fought so hard to gain

others - who are accused..and can not stand up to the light of scrutiny - scurry into the dark shadows and remain silent - hoping that nobody looks too closely

Anyone here play in the card clubs in San Antonio?

I'm a reg in this place. Can vouch that games are fantastic here. Keeping all the $ on the table in deep stacked games makes all the difference. Every game runner of the underground games in town have been by to ck out which of their former players are now playing here. No doubt they are spreading the untrue rumors. Carry on Bill, players are loving the place/games.

I played in them extensively when they opened April last year, and I played a lot for a week straight when I visited San Antonio during Harvey. The Alamo Card House (San Antonio's original) was crazy good for Omaha and was crazy deep for a 1/2.

What's the rule at these other clubs in Austin and Houston with spouses sitting behind you and watching? They have to pay the daily and hourly too? Allowed at all?

I'm at McKinney room for first time and my wife has to pay too even though she's not playing.

Evidently this is going to be a new rule if the Plano room opens back up too.

Basically have to pay to enter the door no matter what you do, because it's a private club.

And its really bizarre to me that there are only 3 tables going right now. With both Plano rooms closing, I don't get why this place isn't packed.

I'm pretty shocked they didn't have it setup like that in the first place. I mean, it's kind of hard to say you are a private club that isn't receiving economic benefit from gambling if you are only charging the members that are gambling.

It's kinda hard to say you're not receiving economic benefit from gambling when the only reason you're open is gambling.
