By choice or by appearance of authorities?
05-02-2020 , 03:23 PM
i believe they received a notice - no poker in commercial establishments - mandated by the governor

Glad they shut the scumbags down.

Why do you call them scumbags? What club in Houston would you play at?

Because they opened before the City approved those types of places opening back up yet. Don’t personally know the River people but the Freerolls owners are very shady. My comment was related to them opening up way too early though(Covid-19)

When they officially open back up I will play at Prime and Lions which have the biggest selection of games.

no u wont. Lions already said they will not be reopening and have closed for good. thats why in one of the home games i went to this month, the tables had phone chargers installed which surprised me and i found out the host had bought the tables from Lions.

Saying we’re “All-In” has never been more relevant than right now. As we all continue to cautiously move into Phase 1 of reopening the state, it’s critical we all continue to work together as we’ve been doing. It’s been inspiring to watch how tough times bring out the best in humanity. As always, we will continue to do our part. #LionsPokerPalace

#fakenews
Lions will be reopening when the city says it’s ok for bars, etc to open back up. Tentatively it is looking like May 20th Barring any spikes in Covid-19 locally before that date.

could be true, im just wondering how he managed to buy the table with chargers under the seats then. maybe the staff of lions changed their mind. the host names begins with an F and i think he works for mint, but not sure and its the game in an address near lions.

Or the illegal game runner could have lied to you as most of them typically do. Lions is not closing.

Midlands has a room open?

Prime just announced on IG they are opening tomorrow. So, I guess that's a thing.
05-11-2020 , 01:13 AM
no one uses instagram except high school girls and nigerian bots pretending to be models. why wouldnt they post it on facebook? their facebook page says NOTHING. and why does poker atlas still show games at freerolls after the city shut them down?
05-11-2020 , 03:41 AM
announced on FB - Prime opens today at noon

freerolls still running since yesterday (2 tables)

The funniest thing about Prime's FB post about the reopening, is all of Trent Daniel's comments replying to any posters that question why they are reopening now. Trent, worry about your own club and quit trying to justify it to everyone. We all know it's a money grab and you could care less about the safety of any players.

I actually come down on the side of go ahead and open. If people go there and play and get sick it's on them. Stupid to be sitting in that close proximity to people until the virus is contained, but to each his own.

Think they'll have trouble finding dealers? I feel like receiving unemployment money would be so much better than dealing cards to a bunch of grumpy guys

Not sure how Houston is but I get the feeling that Dallas cases are about to start ramping up big time. I see lots of people not taking this seriously anymore. Glad to see prime social is taking it seriously with their rules, although passing cards out among many players is always going to be a vulnerability.

My first thought was that as soon as contact tracing locates a room as the source of multiple infections, the legal actions will kick back up again. Maybe not, but not improbably.

FWIW, Prime is claiming 25% capacity, 6 handed, players must be masked, closed for hours each day to "sanitize."
05-12-2020 , 04:11 PM
i don't see people rushing back to the tables anytime soon

At this time the capacity has been pushed up to 50% capacity - we all know that 3 tables - 6 handed is hardly gonna pay the rent at prime just as 1 table at freerolls won't either
05-12-2020 , 04:27 PM
i think the vast majority of players u will see will be all the people coming from other states to play poker in tx. i know of a few considering it. all the other casinos around the country reopening, its not poker its slots.

So it's going to be a ll pros/grinders. I know someone talking about going to Houston too.

u said recently there were places near u that were open now. where? the only 2 rooms i know open in the northern TX area are the room in midland and the room in carrollton called the hideaway

i hope Prime doesnt get in trouble for going to 7 handed from 6. i wish theyd keep it 6 until the city approves. 52 social is going with only 6 plus theyre giving out face shields.
05-13-2020 , 12:49 AM
i shouldve went home too when i left prime and 52 social tonight. i won $90 at prime and $160 at 52. then went and blew $475 in an underground game like a fool.
