I saw that post and am not convinced those players will actually be there. They were tagged but I see nothing stating they are actually making appearances.

I just got a text for a place near nasa called Chesterfield South
Says no daily fee, no time charge and $50 added to your buy in.
There was a phone # attached but no address. My guess this is a “rake room”.

Bumping the quoted post, as I merged it into this thread and it ended up a ways up the page.

Next settings are not until next month...expect to see a series of resets as is quite common where a defendant is not in custody.

On the civil suit side, Bayou has a trial date in the docket control order for sometime next May (lots of interim deadline requirements). Nothing since the June Answer by KHC.

In other words, don't expect anything soon unless Kim and company folds and dismisses...

How is Bill Heuer able to open the new place in Spring without repercussion since he is dealing with this money laundering case? Also, I am confused as to how the state can grant the Mayfield club a liquor license but at the same time interpret their business model as illegal. Makes no sense to me.

Makes absolute sense when you recognize that 1) there has been no judicial holding on the legality or illegality of the business model and that 2) the TABC is not issuing a license based upon an approval of the business model.

TABC is tasked with ensuring that the license holder is in compliance with the rules and regulations related to the liquor component of the operations. There are also reasons why the prudent owner seeks a liquor permit more than ninety days before operations formally commence...any sort of violation in the first 90 days of the permit can result in a revocation, and so getting the permit and essentially sitting on it for three months can help in mitigating the potential loss due to stupidity on the part of staff.

What rooms are closest to Galveston? I've found The Vault in Galveston, but looks like they only get a 1/2NL game a couple times a week if they're lucky. I saw Mint is about ~35min away, are there any others that are within 45 minutes?

Also re: Mint, does it get a good number of tables? Does 2/5 or 5/5 run? I've heard the owner(s) are a bit shady, it it well run/nice/safe? Any info much appreciated.

South Houston Poker club is also closer

South Houston seldom has games running whereas Mint does. Check Poker Atlas.

You won't have issues cashing out or anything at Mint, but the owner keeps welching on promotions for some reason. The $25k freeroll, for example, was listed in the club as end of July. Now the website says August and getting details about it at all is getting sketchy at best (the info sheets they had in the club have been removed and have not yet been replaced).

SoHo is basically just running an underground game with a $25 rake that people play at for some reason. It is openly advertised on the tables at Mint.

All I can say is...

Their website now says it will be in September. I have my doubts if it will ever happen.

I played there last night. The setup is fantastic - nice tables, chips, room. Unfortunately it still has the problem north Houston has always had, very nitty games.

What’s the door fee, new members fee and hourly?

Thanks in advance from a curious nit.

Hourly is $12/hr, which effectively becomes about $11/hr because you get $10 credit for every 10 hours played in a week. There is an additional bonus $20 credit for 80 hours played, which is the cap ($100).

Door fee is payable $10/day, or $30/month, or $300/year. No new member fee. There is an additional $4 check-in fee but I think this is treated as a deposit and credited into your time for the first hour (I'm not entirely clear on this). You get a time stamped ticket when you check in and that's exchanged when you leave to pay for your time.

Any bigger PLO games in these Texas clubs? 5/10+?

I will be visiting some friends and would extend my trip to a different part of Texas to play some poker if there are big enough games.

Thanks in advance!

Just moved to Houston from upstate NY. Play 20+ hours a week of cash games usually during the day time, any recommendations on where to go? Thanks

Mint poker is bull****ing players again for the third time in months there owner has changed the date on a freeroll tournament that was supposed to be played this month now it’s set for September. I made a big fuss it about and no one seemed to care the owner is a no show o the poker room only has managers there. I’m done playing there. No one says a damn thing that the scam artist is doing it again
