I was there last Saturday night. They had a 90 entry $120+$30 NLHE tourney. Cash games really didn’t get going until tourney players started busting out. I think there were three 1-3 and a couple of PLO games.

I liked Lions room. Time charges are the same as PostOak, daily charge is $5 less. Staff is friendlier and more engaged than PostOak, but the big issue is that it's probably less than half the size. There were 3 tables of 1-3, one larger PLO game on Saturday night.

I'll probably go back to PostOak--given that the poker rooms are still not pulling the general public, the larger the pool in a room, the better.

It's a bit of a shame: the vibe was better, the food (from a ME place in the same strip center, with, I am assuming, some sort of shared ownership as well) looked better, etc.

What, there are other forums?

Yeah. My question is who is behind it. I don't think it is just a concerned citizen, I suspect either other game runners or casino folks, but nobody has sussed it out yet, at least not here.

Updated List of Houston Membership - No rake clubs

There was discussion of it earlier in THIS thread. Probably back around late summer or perhaps even into September. Someone was trying to cite from the decades-old case Opinions referenced on that site despite the law having changed substantially from that era and the fact that the current models are different than was described in the cases...

Which laws have changed? I can't find dates associated with most of the laws cited but I don't see anything that indicates they have changed recently.

Finally getting off of a contract I'm working and looking for decent membership games in San Antonio. Any suggestions?

The appellate Opinion that was being cited by one of the shills dates back 30 or so years, to the era where conduct was a felony. The gambling statutes were revised many years ago and it was re-codified as a misdemeanor with some other changes to the language.

In other words, the shills fighting the current structure of operations are relying on law that has not existed for decades. Further, they ALSO ignore the fact that the case in question involved moneys coming off of the table, which ALSO is not occurring in the current models.

And that is precisely my point...the current misdemeanor version of the Code has been in place for something like 20 years. None of the appellate Opinions address claimed violations using the current structures. The goal of the shills is to frighten people by relying upon old law and hoping nobody has a functioning brain cell or knows a little something ABOUT law.

There is a poker room coming to North Dallas very soon. It will be legal.

Kojack's Poker Club in Midland opening December 30. Tournaments look unplayable due to rake. Price structure for cash looks workable.

Can’t say much since it has not been announced but the new Dallas location is being opened by the only room in the state that I am aware of that is ACTUALLY running the room legally. If you do your homework you can probably figure out who it is.

All of the poker rooms that opened and closed in the DFW all made the same claim though..........

I've been to post oak 3 times in the past 2 weeks and they only had the 1/3 plo game running the first night. Does it tend to run regularly at night?

Was kinda hoping to be able to learn the ropes at lower stakes than 5/5

I have to admit that I am surprised none of these places operating in Harris County have not been shutdown yet....
