Here are the ones I'm aware of in Houston:

South of Houston:
Mint Poker - Clear Lake
VIP - Off 45 near Beltway 8
Doc Holidays - San Leon (this one just opened)
North of Houston
Aces Social Club- off 1960
Lone Star Card House - Conroe - This one possibly closed already
Texas Shoot Outs - Tomball
West of Houston
Westside Poker Club - Recently opened off Beltway 8
In-Town
Post Oak Poker Club
Lions Poker Palace
New one opening soon off Richmond west of where Lion's is(don't know the name of it).

Those are the ones I'm aware of in Htown. Only one I've played at is Post Oak. My regular place. Games are off the charts there. Left at 10:30 last night and had 1 5/5PLO, 2 1/3 ROE, 1 5/5 NL and 4 1/3 NL. Games don't appear to be slowing down there from what I've seen.

Cannot speak to Aces since I never went there- that part of 1960 has been a DMZ for more than 20 years. I know that there was also a room just north of 2920 that, as near as I can tell, is still operating (I see vehicles in the lot at night as I head home from the Houston office). However, it was not one of the ones operating under the membership model...it was a raked game...decent games but definitely not a legal model.

Am not familiar with the one in Tomball, so have no insight one way or the other.

Of the ones on that list, POPC is my regular location...easiest to get to, decently run and I don't have concerns in the parking lot. Vehicle suspension will be happier once the construction on Post Oak wraps up though LOL!

I heard there was another one on the west 45 off 1960 but I have not verified...

I was planning to checkout Aces but I guess I waited too long..

Didn't really miss anything with Aces. The venue was nice but they could never get enough players.

The woman who was featured in their award winning videos now works at Post Oak

Another new one at Westheimer & Gessner - www.kingsandcards.com

Interesting. I do hope the $10/hr becomes the norm, but Lions and this new one will have to eat into POPC's volume for it do so, I would expect.

Now we just need them all to get on Bravo so we can see how many games are going where ...
12-04-2017 , 10:53 PM
Ten is y'all's normal? We have a few places dropping it trying to steal players from each other. I think I've seen 10,8,6, and 5 here
12-05-2017 , 12:16 AM
Well, PostOak, which is, I think, emerging as the dominant room (I may wrong about that, I haven't been to Mint), is at $15. I'm hoping they lower for competitive reasons ...
12-05-2017 , 01:38 AM
Holy hell. I'm liking my San Antonio spots even more now.

Aces did not last long at all. Man they spent a ton of money to only give it a go for a few months..

Mint is normally fairly busy... The best part of Mint is they're are 24/7 now.. They have at least one game go all night and sometimes two..
12-06-2017 , 10:28 PM
Yeah, I won't go there.

Nothing against people that do, the cool thing is we don't all gotta' have the same code ...

Can they even do bravo for these places?

Well, I mean, sure. But probably more likely for some local person to start something similar.

My assumption is there are fees related to Bravo, and I don't know that Bravo would want to dip into a legally grayspace that way.
12-07-2017 , 11:16 AM
Bravo isn't an option for these rooms due to size/costs. The best option for now is PokerAtlas.
12-10-2017 , 03:47 PM
Yeah, none of them are on there yet, either ...
12-15-2017 , 04:03 PM
Anyone know anything about how Lions is on Saturday nights? Probably playing Saturday, trying to decide between back to PostOak or there.

Unsure what *loon cash game* was supposed to be.

Games at PoPC that I've been in have been a little less great than casinos--very few truly bad players. But lots of predictability: a fair mix of nits and overly loose players. I would qualify them as good games, not great ones at this point.

Never been there. If I go on Saturday, will have to absorb the membership fee, too.
