Not everyone playing is a 'grinder' though. There is also the element of players who go to play and are not looking at making their living from poker. And in that regard, ten to twelve hours a week that returns only a few hundred overall is still something most people will be content with as it covers a bottle of decent wine...
Personally, grinding low-stakes would be mind-numbingly boring...being around tables that long when there really isn't that much in play just isn't worth the time. It becomes a little better when caps are removed and there is a chance at actually seeing $15-20K at a full ring game, but when people are limited to small buy-ins like $200-$300...just blah.
