Membership-Based Poker in Texas Membership-Based Poker in Texas

There is a new club that has not yet opened in East Dallas called Shuffle 214. Poker Atlas shows that it will have 31 tables. This is the same brand as the poker room Shuffle 512 in Austin.

The rumor had been that 52 Social was trying to open a huge room at Montfort and 635 but may have ran into a snag with the city. I haven't heard anything new about it in the last month.

There is a really tiny club in Euless called Real Action Card Club. They just sent out a message about the city revoking their license and there will be a hearing about it.

Other than that there is The Hideaway in Carrollton/Lewisville which is smaller than TCH and kind of has an underground feel.

Plus Winstar's poker room is now open so there are games at Winstar and Choctaw.

and also many other places in dallas dream crusher wont mention here that u can find out about thru reading facebook dallas texas poker player groups. the reason u cant find them on poker atlas is because they take a rake, so arent considered as legal as TCH. but they will certainly not forbid u from playing, so theyre not actually private either.

And not as legal as TCH is a nice way of saying they are completely illegal.

Their legality does not dissuade me from playing in those games, but their extremely high rake does.

Hello guys,

does anyone with the required money is getting a membership for a casino?

Me, German, am about to go to Dallas to play at TCH.

And speaking of which, what is the difference between membership and club access.

Newbie here + couldnt find further info at the homepage.

Cheers

ok apparently the membership is necessary to generally play in the casino, and the club access is the 'fee' for actual playing at the table. Correct me if i'm wrong.

still wondering about the membership obtainment.

There are 2 fees that must be paid. One is a daily/monthly membership fee to be a member of the club. This is a negligible $30/month fee. The more expensive fee is the hourly access fee which is charged when you sit down at a table. This is $13/hr although for the month of May they are offering 5 hours for $55 so $11/hr.

Also, casino is the wrong word. These are just poker rooms.

And basicly poker club membership is granted to anyone who pays and fills out a form

TCH at Dallas is running 250k tournament next weekend. Anyone know if they will have table for cash game? I will be in Dallas next weekend.

In general what you find at TCH are very very long lists for the few cash games that are running during tournaments.

I know they setup extra tournament tables for the $500k tournament they had last month. I'm not sure they will do that this time. They could also be constrained by # of dealers available.

I can't speak as to how long the waits are to get into cash games but based on the very long lists I assume it's not quick. When tournaments are going on I just come in really late (after midnight) or sometimes really early (before noon if cash games were running all night).

Either way, if you plan to play cash put yourself on the list via pokeratlas and then get to the poker room and check in within an hour. That will save you some time of having to hang out and twiddle your thumbs. (albeit, during the $500k they removed the ability to put yourself on the list via pokeratlas).

What are the games like in Austin right now? I'm looking to play some PLO, 1/2/5 or 5/5. Wondering which days of the week / clubs are hot? Tough to keep up with them all.

Thanks

We need one of these rooms to open in Fort Worth, particularly north of Fort Worth. Anybody heard anything?

I’ve been watching some TCH Live Dallas 10/25/50 and it’s pretty wild. Does anyone know anything about this Bildo character? He’s the definition of a LAG maniac and has won and lost some massive pots including a $148k winner.

Second that. Apparently a permit was approved in the Hulen area, but a local city council candidate put up a fit and got the permit reversed. If you know anyone in that district, he is in a run off and I'd hate to see him on city council.

They just need to find another suitable space in a different part of town. There is plenty of unleased shopping centers space all over town.

I live really close to the Hulen area and all the busybodies on Nextdoor in this area were campaigning really hard against this. I commented a few times and tried to explain the difference between a card room and a game room, but they weren't having it. Unfortunately we have numerous illegal "slot" rooms around here, one of which had a fatality shooting recently, so that is what everyone who doesn't know better equates a card room with.

Champions seems to be closing down. Their tweet says something about new place. If they were planning on moving you figure that would’ve been advertised for awhile. Like what Post Oak was doing (R.I.P.) Don’t know if all the traffic from the Lone Star caused a problem with landlord.

Yeah their Facebook page posts have a couple of last minute cancellations for their weekend tournaments. On their post about their closure effective this weekend, one person complained about just recently buying time, and Champions offered to reimburse, and/or the time would be applicable to their new location(s). Their closure announcement suggests they’ll be reopening soon, but no details. There’s no press suggesting any sort of legal shutdown / arrests. Seems like a last minute surprise loss of the location…. Curious if there’s any other intel out there from someone close to the details?

Just received this email from The Lodge in Roundrock, (Austin) today

They are expanding to 60 Tables !

06-15-2021 , 10:58 AM
60 tables...thats insane...could be a gear up for BIG tournies - one problem that having that many tables on a regular day - it makes the place look empty

in houston more and more clubs are converting to rake now...pushing the envelope but it is only an indication of that they can not make it in the hourly rate (or they are getting greedy and want more money)

This may be a dumb question but - is it common for poker rooms to misrepresent their actual live activity on PokerAtlas? And if others have seen this, is that an issue that, in your opinions, should be elevated in some way (either a bad review or comment via PokerAtlas or google)?

Asking since there’s a newish room that I wanted to check out - PokerAtlas showed multiple tables of cash going, with updates every hour or two. Travel to the room only to find no tables running. Has happened multiple times, once showing people on a waitlist. Seems questionable to me…

very common - back in the day it was "yes..we have 1 seat open" and you get there and it is the dealer and the owner

First off..anytime you see last update is more than 1 hr and it shows a table running....its generally fake game

2nd...BEST COURSE OF ACTION....post on their poker atlas review about this behavior - that will put a quick stop to it

Dallas options are still just Texas Card House and The Hideaway.

Shuffle 214 is supposed to open a 31 table location in East Dallas any day now.

Champions out of Houston is opening a Dallas room but I've not heard any details regarding location or time frame.

Haven't heard anything about 52 Social.
06-17-2021 , 10:42 PM
What's the hourly fee for Hideaway? Am I better off just going to TCH? I guess I've always just ran hot on the underground games as far as the rake. Never been to one that was super ridiculous, I think $7 was the max, but I messaged a guy the other day who wasn't shy about letting me know it was $25 for hold em and $30 for PLO, lol. Incredible.
06-18-2021 , 01:24 AM
Not sure about the hourly fee at The Hideaway but I believe it's slightly less than TCH. I also noticed on their facebook that they have deals some days where if you come in between 2pm and 4pm you get the entire day for $35 which is ridiculously cheap. They also have ladies night where ladies pay just $10 for the night.

Either way you'll be fine though. These poker rooms are taking less money than Winstar/Choctaw.
