Now granted one of them made some donkey plays in PLO that night .. but really, that's just part of poker.

Don't go advertising all these good games and then get all pissy when action players show up from across the states. GL
Can guarantee they weren't followed by players pissed about "their high level action plays". I play the PLO every day and have seen several out of state hot shots already leave broke with their tails between their legs.

When Prime was the place to play, I'm aware of 5 different incidents where players were followed when leaving there. Personally know 4 of them and the 5th(Maxx Coleman from Kansas was confirmed by several sources). 2 of the players I know were robbed when they got home in their driveways. 1 even got tased and beat up. 2 got away by evasive driving and Maxx was shot at and is lucky to be alive. He immediately left Texas and hasn't been seen back here since.

Since 52 Social became the place to play(over the past 6 months) one player was robbed in the parking lot when leaving and a 2nd was followed home to the apartment he was renting and had an attempt to rob him when he was entering the electric gate. He rammed their car and was able to escape (lucky as he had a gun pointed at his head when he reversed his car and rammed theirs).

These are just 7 incidents I know of and bet there are many more I don't know about. In other words, if you are going to play here be very careful when leaving these places.

Sorry to hear about Maxx. I hope he's ok.

Everyone definitely needs to be on high alert when leaving these places. Know your surroundings and know where the nearest police precinct is in case you are followed.

planning a trip to cow town (Fort Worth) in a week. Are there any rooms there or do I have to venture into Dallas?
11-25-2020 , 01:57 PM
Looks like Texas Card House is 35 min from dead center of FW with multiple routes available if traffic is a problem somewhere .. and depending on where you are at. They are a few exits east of DFW airport.

Should be hoppin' as they just opened very recently and have a huge presence on YouTube. GL

The closest "legal" room that I'm aware of to Ft Worth is Real Action Card Club in Euless. It's 20 minutes from the heart of Ft Worth. It's a pretty new club and I've never been there but my expectation would be that it is probably well run but should be a lot smaller than Texas Card House.

My son and are I looking to take a poker trip, we are thinking about trying out Texas poker. Looking for NLH 1/3 2/5 that runs during the week. Are the games beatable with these daily feels and timed fees, how do the games fair compared to Vegas or Atlantic City. How does dealer tipping work. Any advice would be appreciated.
12-06-2020 , 11:04 AM
The games are very beatable. I'd expect the games to be much easier on average than Vegas. Where I play you purchase tipping chips which are not in play and can only be used for tipping, or tip with cash that is not in play.

Do your research .. many clubs offer daily, weekly and monthly 'hour' rates AFTER you pay their initiation fee. Many clubs offer early bird and 'session' discounts.

So first determine your commitment to poker for the trip and then find a club that caters best to your plan.

Check out TCH Live on YouTube for both 1/3-2/5 and 5/5 action. The announcers usually indicate that the stream table is actually less action than the 'regular' tables, which is hard to believe at times!

As with all trips, make sure you are picking a city you want to spend time in since it may not all be poker (or if you run bad) .. then see what poker is available. Houston, Austin and Dallas/FW are all in the mix .. as well as SA as well. GL

Sounds like a hype job by the announcers to me.
12-07-2020 , 04:19 PM
That's the thought for sure .. But I've had connections with 3-4 trips to Texas and heard very good feedback from the games in general. Obv you need to game select within the rules of the club as any poker venture ..

.. not all feedback was from TCH clubs, it's pretty much the same no matter the club as long as there's more than 2 tables going.

The general rule will still apply that most of the action will be after dark though, so you really never know what will happen daytime. GL

This information is already outdated. TCH in Dallas no longer uses tip chips. You can now just tip out of your stack.

52 Social the best place to play in Houston has announced they are opening a 2nd location in Dallas that will be even bigger than their Houston room. Planning to open next month. Stay tuned!

Nice, I didn't expect it so soon. I'd heard rumors that it would be opening near Preston and George Bush (or Midway and George Bush). A lot further for me than TCH but good news nonetheless.

I haven't played live in a long time so never got the chance to check out 52.

What's their parking situation like? Valet? self-park? Well lit?

Same price structure as prime?

What's the 1/3 or 5/5 plo buy-in amounts?

Thanks for the help. Kinda been itching to play but have stayed away since I see my parents fairly regularly.

Well with the Dallas 'regulators' having gone through the process with TCH hopefully the room can open with a much quicker timeline .. obv CV didn't help TCH-Dallas. GL

This information can be found within poker atlas. Also, they have a website with information on it including fees.

When did they make this change? I was there on Friday and they still had tip chips.

Midway and GB can get a little sketchy.

They actually have decent security in the lot but I still have my head on a swivel when leaving because the area is a bit sketchy. Valet locks up all the close spaces but there is ample free parking if you don’t mind parking a distance away.

It’s $12 an hour and if you buy $100 in time they bonus you $20 more free which brings it down to $10 an hour. $10 daily door fee except between 10-1 when there is free entry even on weekends.

1/3 PLO is $100 minimum. Not sure of max.

5/5/10 PLO is $500 minimum with no max.

Good luck!

I believe on Sunday. They still had tip chips on Saturday. When I came in on Monday they were all gone but a dealer was already talking about how much more money he was making.

Well those are just rumored locations. I have no solid info.

Great for the dealers... but now actual $$$$ will be leaving the game.

Tempus player portal has other live wait lists for poker rooms in Texas. SA Poker Palace is opening in San Antonio I believe in January down the street from Alamo Card House. It’ll be the same owners as Austin Poker Palace, and some of the Austin staff came down here with them.

Almost all the Texas poker rooms have a Facebook, and most have an Instagram so you can always search for the local rooms through hashtags for poker in the city you’re in.

As for security, it’s generally protocol to have the players walked to their car, at least we do at Alamo Cars House. If a player is ever in doubt, many card rooms have back entrances that they would be more than happy to let you use. Asking the floor if they would valet your car to the back would be reasonable at most places too I’d expect if requested.

He's still around. Have seen him a couple times in the past month at 52 Social. He typically plays the 1/3 PLO. I think he mainly plays at Texas Card House(Houston location) which is near where he lives.
