52 gets more business because its around the clock and the owners stole all the big money plo and california players. Kings gets a ton of round the clock business because theres no charge at all in time, nor is there a rake. so u save about $500 a week. been that way for over 2 weeks now.

i figured it would end soon, but on the way home, the owner gave me a lift the other day and told me privately not to tell the other clubs this, but he plans to continue to give free time for several more months or until the other rooms shut down. he said to me hes won so much in the stock market he has zero need for money and is as much set for life as Bill Gates. so hes sharing it with all the loyal customers but doesnt want them to know it yet. first time ive ever seen a business start charging $0 for its product and keep it that way forever. wouldnt it be nice if all rental companies, gas stations, grocery stores and utility companies would follow suit?
Nice job Tony.

Good thing he told you not to tell anybody.

Wow, just wow.

Guarantee you this is fake news.

Pretty sure he is doing the same thing as Freerolls and Empire and taking a rake out of each pot. Watch closely and then report back. Empire opened right across the street from him so he had to do something to compete with the business he was losing. Most poker players are too dumb to notice the chips being taken out of each pot. Freerolls went from losing players to 101 to growing their games when they switched to this model. Definitely illegal though and at some point will get shut down.

Beat me to it TBC, he said don’t tell the other rooms but I guess it’s ok to post this on a board full of poker players.

Just a bleeping joke that these owners are switching to a rake model. Once again, some morons are trying to kill the golden goose.

I kept an eye out for this and have not noticed a rake being taken. I'll be extremely vigilant from now on.

Legality aside, a small rake ($1 to $3 per pot) is cheaper than a $10 time charge in any case.

It's possibly someone would if they were claiming a rake and time free game and attempting to subtly take a rake. If you rake $7 per hand someone is sure to notice.
06-19-2020 , 03:02 PM
Seems to me it would be more subtle to take a $5 chip off the table than three $1 chips. LoL @ breaking the law just to under rake the game.

There are $20 max rake underground games that rake $75 and nobody notices. Of course, if you pay attention you'll be able to notice regardless of whether they rake just $1.

Speaking of, I noticed Freerolls quietly upped their rank from $10 a hand to $15 to pay for their bad beat jackpot.

if you are referring to king's - he happens to be in my stock trading group...i knew he was doing very well - of course I never knew he was doing THAT well but he did comment that his trading style had improved since joining...i would like to think our group helped him and am pleased if that is indeed true

btw..i have played in his games several times in the past few weeks and i have NEVER seen 1 chip taken from the pot ...and after 40 years i believe i have not only SEEN every trick...i have DONE them too..lol

Clive, were you paying an hourly time charge at the time or are you saying it was free?
06-20-2020 , 02:40 PM
i have played twice there (over a week ago) and not a single time was i charged time - I dont know if it is just during the day..i believe i played from 4pm - 11pm and was never asked for a single penny

Good to know that Kings and Cards could be an all right option, I’ll have to look into it when I’m there.
06-20-2020 , 05:03 PM
If no time charge and no rake is just an alright option, I'd like to know what a good option would be. They pay you a time charge to play?
06-20-2020 , 05:04 PM
they are already giving away high hand money - what more do you want?
06-20-2020 , 06:58 PM
It sounds good and if Clive is saying positive things about ownership, then that is a plus for me. I’m hoping the action is at least lukewarm because the online grind gets boring.
06-20-2020 , 11:58 PM
F that place ...lost to a 1 outer...lol

A 8 vs 88 - ace on the flop
bet the flop...calls - danger on the turn straight draw - check check
8 on the river ...

I said the owner was a good guy and runs a good ship but those dealers suck...

Lol - all things aside - i looked very carefully at every pot - even the dealers hoped no time fee continues....action was good - players were decent overall - cooler got me...but still does not change the fact that rake free / no time is quite a deal - will it last forever...i don't think he did THAT well in the market

All the action is at 52 Social. That is where you should go if you want the most variety/games. Rate is $12 an hour and if you buy $100 you get $20 extra in time.

Prime used to be the place to go pre-COVID but they have pissed off a lot of customers and felt entitled to the business/players. Business has dried up to where they are only getting a couple of tables a night now. They charge $16 an hour (which is part of the problem).

Never been to Champions but it opened pre COVID at the same time as 52 Social and has never taken off. Lucky if they have 1 table running a night. Main issue is probably location. Farther West than the other 2 and not as convenient for most people.
