was it 24 hours or did the game only go late evenings and not all 7 days?

Hi guys, I am new to the Texas scene and I was wondering if anyone can tell me which clubs anywhere in the state had 5/10nl regularly before all the covid stuff? And which one of these clubs are open again? Really would appreciate it

Please out of state players who earn thier living from poker, u need to quit coming to TX. so many have came the games now suck. i used to win over $1000 a week, and now in the last 10 days im out over $1900 and about $1400 of it was in the games and the rest on expenses. the games were good til i told too many people about TX. no casual players left in the games. theyre still staying home, but all those who earn a living are at the tables.

Of course the games are no good. We are in a global recession and oil is in the shitter. Just wait until people's unemployment runs out and see how good the games are.

Spades Poker House in Webster is set to open very soon. Construction is complete and they are only waiting on final approval from local government.

They are in the wrong business model to be waiting for approval from the city...

I think he is intimating since they are in the Clear Lake area and the other poker place operating in that area, Mint Poker, has received several letters from the local authorities telling them they are operating illegally and need to close, that there is a very slim chance that those same authorities would authorize a new club.

Did I get that right Scooter?

Re: the new spot(Spades) I did see that Rich Wight and Mike Carr are going to be running that venue. They have both been around the Houston poker scene for years and know many of the players. Hopefully they can get it up and running and we can end the Mint Poker experience forever

Pretty much...

Illegal operations are VERY hard to get approved.

Rumour has it a number of players were found to have been infected by COVID-19 at 52 Social in Houston. When that gets out get ready for these places to be shut down again.

Time will tell if these places shut down, but I personally don’t see it happening. If people are willing to accept risk and clubs demand people wear masks or the plastic cube SDA’s, like in San Antonio, then I see clubs staying open.

I got a text message from Mint Poker last night saying that they are now requiring masks for everyone and going back to 7 player tables. I'm not sure what drove that but, up until now, they had been resisting the idea of requiring masks.

I’m getting ready to take a trip to Houston for a few weeks but it looks like I’ll have to see how this develops. I’ve previously played at Prime and Mint, and vastly preferred Prime. Mint seemed a little shady and out of the way. It sounds like they’re willing to do what it takes to stay open.
06-19-2020 , 12:49 AM
Prime hardly gets buisness anymore due the fact it closes at 5am. no one wants to come at 1am, get stuck in the game first 3 hours, then be having to leave stuck. its trying so hard to follow laws and limit the players to 7 really hurt them. other clubs all 8-9-10 handed.

52 gets more business because its around the clock and the owners stole all the big money plo and california players. Kings gets a ton of round the clock business because theres no charge at all in time, nor is there a rake. so u save about $500 a week. been that way for over 2 weeks now.

i figured it would end soon, but on the way home, the owner gave me a lift the other day and told me privately not to tell the other clubs this, but he plans to continue to give free time for several more months or until the other rooms shut down. he said to me hes won so much in the stock market he has zero need for money and is as much set for life as Bill Gates. so hes sharing it with all the loyal customers but doesnt want them to know it yet. first time ive ever seen a business start charging $0 for its product and keep it that way forever. wouldnt it be nice if all rental companies, gas stations, grocery stores and utility companies would follow suit?
