Let me put it this way, if you were a FBI agent, which case would you choose to investigate?
1) Card rooms operating in the open that might be violating some
state gambling laws.
2) Potentially corrupt government officials from the DA's office, to the mayor and up to the state AG. Deprivation of civil rights under the color of law. Inexplicably shady consulting deals & quid-pro-quo political contributions.
Again, for the card rooms, WHY THE FBI? Just kick it upstairs to the state.
The FBI referral was "Hey, I know it
looks like some shady **** was happening here in my office, please come in and show that we have nothing to hide and we were the innocent victims here."
