Word at Prime last night is they had a meeting with dealers to tell them starting Monday they are cutting their hourly pay in half. Dealers aren’t happy (although they appear to be doing well with tips). Any dealers that read this thread have any more info. Place was packed to the gills so not an issue with their business.

i have a copy of the letter attached to their paychecks ...contact me on FB if you want a copy

They are getting tips? Well then it makes sense that their pay is cut in half. Also would make sense for law enforcement to shut them down. Very exciting news!

there are so many ways to circumvent that aspect - i don't expect the "grey police" to come in take action - for now the whole thing is grey and until they make a definitive court case I don't expect anything to change

They are tipped with cash that is not in play. Not allowed to tip with chips (at Prime)

So rather than having hourly fees a room could just charge a pot scooping fee, variable based on the size of the pot.

Any fee charged to collect winnings in a hand would be rake, no?

In July 2018 the AG declined to give an opinion on private, social, card clubs in Texas. Counselor Paxton mentioned that Texas Card House in Austin and a similar operation in San Antonio were involved in a lawsuit. Has this lawsuit been in front of a judge yet? If not, has a court case been set?

the issue regarding the suit which was the fact texas card house was charging an hourly fee for tournaments - texas card house has stopped the practice so now i think it is a mute point

whether they are silent or not, I have no real idea since I don't pay that much attention to chatter...however, whether it becomes a MOOT point remains to be seen.

To the question about whether the case is still pending in Travis County, yes, it is still 'active' although not with much actual activity.

The last document was the attorney vacation letter that was filed in November and prior to that was the Original Answer that had been filed during the first week of August.

There were, at one point in 2018, 3 membership card rooms in El Paso. House of Kings seems to be doing the best (I have no affiliation but I have been there. If people are in the area they should check it out. Usually it's 2-3 tables of 1-2 or sometimes Omaha or round of each. They have some tournaments. Membership fee + $10/hr to play.

I heard the Poker Club at West Houston has now started allowing dealer tips with playing chips as well as cash and the old tipping chips. Not sure why.

If true, it sounds like they are just stupid enough to want to invite prosecution. On rare occasion, you will see an entity that tries to force the hand of a Legislature by highlighting an issue in need of statutory change but THIS would NOT be a good way to go about it with respect to poker.

Just heard from a player that a player was followed home from Prime (assumed he was followed but can't 100% know for sure) and robbed in his driveway in Katy. Was getting out of his car and getting something out of his back seat when he heard someone behind him. Turned around and it was a guy with a mask on and taser. Robber tasered him and then kicked and beat him up once he was on the ground. Stole his wallet(all cash and credit cards). He had left Prime and drove straight home with no stops. This was at around 11 pm on a Sunday night(happened about 3 to 4 weeks back so surprised nothing had been posted about it). He was playing in the 15/30 HiLo game. Guy told the player that told me the story that he is never going back to one of those places and is scared since the robber knows where he lives and has all his info. He also lives in a gated community so that is weird that he wouldn't have noticed someone following him in but if you aren't looking for that type of thing I can see how you may not notice someone following you.

Be careful out there peeps! If you are playing at one of these places(or any underground room as well) make sure you are aware of your surroundings and make sure you aren't being followed.

Any other players hear about this? Got the guys name but don't want to post it for his privacy.

I say impossible and credible evidence not presented - nobody in their right mind would not have filed a police report - I would understand if they were coming from an underground game but they were coming from a legal game.

Show a copy of a police report or it didn't happen
