What is interesting is I asked a couple of other Htown players if they were planning to play and they weren't aware of it. They bought a billboard off 45 and have been playing radio commercials on 97.5 but they aren't doing anything on local FB social media in the 2 main FB Houston poker groups.

Seems a little flaky too in that they are having a Day 1A(Friday), Day 1B(Saturday) and a day 1C(early Sunday) which is tentative. Buy in is $300 + their fee then they have 1 rebuy and 1 add on. Also have the option of playing multiple flights and surrendering your stack. Not sure I like it. Thoughts?
I love on the North side and I am not a fan of this location....

day 1 report is that they hit just under 100k

$95k
45 people made day 2
Not too bad making $5k under the guarantee on day 1 alone.....

FTN opened back up in Plano, Parker and Tollway area. Haven’t been yet and don’t know specifics of fees, etc. interested to see how long it lasts.

Huh? Why would they open in Plano? That's where all the other rooms got shut down.

Maybe they found someone willing to see the matter through to a jury docket...

Law enforcement is not the final arbiter of what is or is not a violation of the law. There are plenty of dismissals in each of the 254 Counties in the State every week on various offenses because there was no probable cause to believe a violation of the law had, in fact, taken place.

As Clive pointed out, this is one to watch:
https://www.wilsoncountynews.com/new...er_parlor.html

They used the same business model as all the Houston clubs. 47.03, 47.04 and 47.06 violations for the gamerunners. 47.02 violations for the players. Perhaps we'll get a trial out of one of these folks.

I would like to make a Poker Court
In this case - it will be a cross and re-cross examination like a court

Before we start - lets get a volunteer(s) for the side

The question is - as it would be in this case going to a court - is the current model of rake free games in Texas are legal or not legal - Each side will be allowed to ask a question of the other side - lets keep the answers to a reasonable length and not turn it into a "summation position" - that will come at the end.

At the end of the cross / re-cross the authors will sum up their arguments and present their case to
the jury (the subscribers) and lets see where it goes.

Please start a new thread and have at it. This one is to discuss current Texas games. Don’t muck up this thread anymore than you already have

Did they really? The only recent postings I see listed on their facebook page are online tournaments.

I believe i have maintained interest in the situation - as neutral a view as possible on a personal table and finally i accomplished my reason for starting this thread - getting a young man paid his money after years of refusing to give him what was rightfully his.

That being said - this thread has consolidated people to one area and as the situation changes they have one place to see the picture from many view points and can grow their conclusions and thoughts in one area.

You are as delusional as ever. You didn’t start this thread. Go post your polls in the Michael Eakman thread or on Facebook. This one is for discussing Texas venues and updates on those places

Steelhouse poker tourney had a 5 way chop for $30k each

https://www.pokernews.com/news/2018/...ials-30822.htm

The initial concept was that they would only run freerolls - the monies coming from advertisers - As I talk to the founders on almost a daily basis have some insight on the objective

My question - every so often (lets say it is every 30 min - would you play (with no charge) to win an average of 5k/day?
For argument's sake lets take 2 scenarios
a - the time watch an ad is 30 seconds and you need to take a 15 second survey
b - the time watch an ad is 60 seconds and you need to take a 30 second survey

One indicator is one that I have kept a watch on - multiple locations

When I first started in this sector - my goal was multiple areas to service the houston by setting up clubs on the beltway - north/south/east/west

Other clubs also said they wanted to do the same thing - however all of us got bogged down without seeing massive crowds to justify opening up new locations and built solid bases in their one location.

That being said - now others are entrenching themselves in geographic locations and so the opportunity is less appealing of setting up a network....

I tried out West Houston Poker Club in Katy this past weekend.

Same pricing structure as Post Oak ($15/day; $15/hr)

Positives:
*Great location for anyone West of Beltway 8.
*Clean, well lit room with very nice new tables and chairs.
*Game was really soft but got a little stronger as the night went on

Negatives:
*Not enough players yet. Looks like it is only sustaining one table cash game per day/night. At times there was a second table
going but usually had two or three employees playing to fill out.
* No visible security from what I observed.
* Parking is pretty limited (but free) especially if the bar next door is crowded.
* Food is limited to take out orders from bar next door and Landry's seafood next to that.

Overall it was fine. They are still very new so as long as they can continue to add players and keep them happy I would hope they would have some staying power for us West siders. At this point in time I would probably prefer Post Oak due to the action there but I'll continue to check in on them and see if the base builds up.

Guys! New developments on that Texas Cardhouse shooting! Shooter and accomplice both caught. Apparently, the accomplice was a contracted security guard for Texas Cardhouse.

interesting point ....was he contracted - or was he an employee

At no point has alamo house reached out publicly to help with any compensation or help with the medical bills

Some lawyer is gonna have a field day and it has to leave an unsettling feeling in every owner's stomach of this as a ticking time bomb of responsibility they bear with hiring dealers / degen players who went broke and now have to work.

I think you mean Texas Card House. But you're right, this kid should get an attorney and sue. This being an inside job, he'd probably get a massive settlement offer.

This puts a whole new twist on the event - Not only is the security on most of these places "lax" at best - I have yet to be offered to be walked to my car from ANY room at ANY TIME - (this should be standard procedure that EVERY person is walked to their car win or lose) - but now it is revealed that you have another concern that someone is watching for opportunities "off the table" to profit by.

This is a really sad state of affairs for all
