Thanks for the response. Seems rounders only ever has a table or 2 running for 1/2 at a time. Think I got spoiled by playing at texascardhouse in atx had great action. In your opinion which room regularly gets more action? Hate going to rooms with a table or 2 filled with regs.

Playing at Freerolls now. Room is incredible but theres only one table running right now of 1/3 NLHE and its fairly mediocre action. Interestingly their monitors are advertising that theyre selling crowdsource equity shares at https://growthfountain.com/freerollspokerclubs . Their room needs some serious growth for this to be sustainable. Their gimmick is that theyre trying ti use ad revenue to offset the cheap hourly ($40 all day and theres a $4k freeroll shortly with only 9 people here).

About 50 people showed up right before the tournament started.

There were 9 tables for Friday nights tourney. What Freerolls is doing now is you get in a tourney automatically with your $40 fee. Then you rebuy at whatever price. Cheaper during the week and yesterday it’s was $100 but you get 40k in chips, didn’t seem to phase too many people had multiple rebuys/ addons at my table.

Yeah, their texts were inconsistent with the way it actually worked, but the way it went down was:

You pay $40 at the door. That lets you play cash games until close for free, with no hourly or rake. They had 1 table of 1/3 NLHE from the time I got there at 5 to 7:30, when their tournament started.

Once their tournament started, a lot more people showed up. The tournament lets you begin with 12K chips for your $40 for free, with the option of rebuying up to 25K chips for $100 and adding on 40K chips for $100. Even if you peg your free starting stack to the rebuy value, that means $40 of your door entry gets your $30 of cEV in the tournament (but realistically even more, since people rebuy for $100 very consistently). The players in the tournament were universally terrible, even the "good" ones, just zero awareness of how to play 15-30BB stacks. Lots of limping/calling preflop raises for huge % of their stacks with Q9o, A4s, etc.

So in other words, less than $10 of your door charge lets you buy 8+ hours of play at their cash game tables, which kicked up considerably following the tourney. All things remaining equal, that makes this by far the best deal in town, even better than that Conroe game that shut down. Plus the Conroe game was run out of a ****ty warehouse - this place is very spacious with good amenities, clean bathrooms, etc. It's actually ludicrously and unsustainably cheap. Officially, their plan going forward is to offset how cheap the room is with advertising revenue (every seat has an Amazon Kindle installed into the felt), which seems like a pretty dumb strategy tbh and probably won't work, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Got a text that Freerolls is now running blackjack tournaments. Sounds like a pretty ******ed idea. Sometimes I think these places are begging to get shut down.

Houston Police are denying they signed off on Freerolls' business model. Apparently they've been raising equity money from the public (and signing a deal for a WPT tour stop) based on this claim.

HTOWN: THAT'S THE DUMBEST POST I'VE SEEN SO FAR!! Do you really think that 1) Freerolls is that stupid to put a "HOUSTON POLICE" tab on their website without asking permission first and that it was unreal? PLUS, if it were untrue, don't you think by NOW HPD would have written them a letter to take it down just like Webster did with MINT? 2) ARE YOU THAT DUMB to think WPT would extend their brand without checking facts and asking the right questions from the right people?!? BTW, the "are you that dumb" question was rhetorical! Mike, David, John, or whatever other alias you want to use. Maybe the next post, I'll just eliminate the a.k.a but who knows. Post Oak swapped out their chips sometime between Saturday and Sunday. Apparently they had some counterfeit chip (black chips) issues in a 5/10 game. Not sure how they handled the cash out.

I heard it was ~15 chips. Supposedly, that's also why they stopped using the $500 chips some time ago.

The current chips they're using are fairly dark ($1, $25, $100 denominations) so i'd be extra careful when facing bets and double-checking remaining chips behind until you get used to it.

I was there so I can report a few more details. It was the 5/5 PLO game, table 1, on Saturday night around 10 pm where most of the counterfeit chips were discovered and a couple more were found on the 2nd and 3rd PLO table. The owners Bill and Daniel were there and Bill personally checked every $100 chip and took out the counterfeit ones. I was told there were actually 29 found. They replaced them all that night with different $100 chips from the back. Hopefully they can review the tapes and determine who put them in the game. I had heard the same thing happened last year with the $500’s as well. There are some real sneaky/crafty people out there, but if they do a forensic analysis of the tapes and people’s buy ins they should catch them.

If you took any home I would recommend taking them up there immediately as they are now out of circulation and the longer you wait the less likely they will be honored.

I would expect that anyone doing this would use mules rather than do it themselves. I wonder what the prevention strategy going forward will be, and what legal recourse POPC would even have (if any) even if they could identify who did it.

its only a matter of time before this happened - the only way around this a combo of RfID and UV protection - this is why casinos have to have constant surveillance

cost is about 1.75/chip and even then you will only be able to catch it after the fact - this relies on chip protection at the table built into the system with cameras and/or tables that can read for these markings in real time

there is no way their cameras and software / personnel are sophisticated enough to stop this - they can only identify it at cash out time - bellagio theft of the 5k chips by the motorcycle gang faced the same problem

there is even a case where the commander of our nuclear sub program was caught passing counterfeit chips in a casino - google john oliver - nuclear program for details

It was just a matter of time before the cheats figured out a way to steal... I suspect there will be many more attempts at this..

From what I heard(currently out of town) rounders stole some of the 5/5 players from SA. I think they had a 5/5 big O game Sunday. Honestly, none of these rooms get super busy. It's only gonna be a handful of tables. The action has always been good imo

95% of the time its employees that help in cheating or finding ways to make more money.Post oak has some suspect dealers there that can easily be looked at although Lions has the worst half there dealers are scammers and alwayls looking to make extra money or doing anything to cheat. Take a look at there tournaments why is that same few guys always at final table daily. if management of these places knew where to look could be easy to find.

what happened to the Legal legion heard they were out of business?

Does anyone mind expanding on their issues with the dealers/management of Lions? I checked it out recently and would like to know if I should be wary of certain things or just stay away completely

stay away most them dealers are scammers there mostly there for best interest of themselves not the club. watch out with tournament chips ive had a couple dealers ask me for deals there and i refuse to go back cause same guys always at final table so im sure dealers slipping them chips or free rebuys ive heard and seen some suspect things.

Someone got shot leaving Texas Card house this morning (4am), currently in hospital with life-threatening injuries. Wondering if anyone has any additional info on what happened?

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are investigating a shooting in northwest Austin Monday morning that they believe stemmed from a robbery outside the Texas Card House.

A man was shot around 4 a.m. in the parking lot on the southbound 183 service road between Anderson Mill Road and Balcones Club Drive. Police say he was coming out of the Texas Card House as it was closing. Austin-Travis County EMS says medics took the man in his 20s to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The suspect took off.

"By the time I knew about it, the victim was being cared for, the police were about a minute away and then I was notified," said co-owner Justin Northcutt.

Northcutt says his business has 26 surveillance cameras inside and outside the Texas Card House. One of the outside cameras captured the attack but investigators are not releasing the video.

"Very shocked, very shocked, safe environment for the most part," said Gino Reale, owner of Reale's Pizza Cafe.

Even though he sees police patrol regularly, Reale says the poker room makes him a little nervous. "It definitely inspires a little concern I guess, right? When you're dealing with gambling and a little bit of that," said Reale.

One armed guard works the Texas Card House, but after Monday's shooting, they're adding a second guard at night. They'll also look at enhancing other security measures, possibly their cameras.

"We're going to continue looking at how do we expand them, how do we make them better, more useful, more effective," said Northcutt.

The business describes itself as "Texas' Premiere Poker Club," a private, membership-based social club with cash games, tournaments Texas Hold 'Em, billiards and others. The club sees 150 to 250 people per day. Owners say club members can also request that a security guard walk them to their cars.

In the plaza complexes that stretch along US 183 from Anderson Mill down to Balcones Club Drive, KXAN only found two violent crimes, a handful of car and business burglaries, and a few thefts, when looking at Austin police reports over the last year.
