The Facebook rumor mill is that Prime Social will run a 1,000,000+ GTD tourney before the end of the year...

What happened to the rumor that Hammer was coming back to Houston? And that another too, was opening in the old Palm restaurant spot.

Hammer told someone in Vegas he was coming back to Htown. Don’t know when or where.

TCH is planning to open a location before the end of the year in the same center as where the Palm was. El Tiempo is in the Palms spot and the poker room will be where Dimensions in Design was.

Wow what is that going to be 4-5 rooms within a 5 minute drive of each other? Pretty wild...

If/when Texas poker moves to the Venues and Communities forum, what kind of thread arrangement do you folks think makes sense? I was thinking one for Houston, one for Austin, and one for the rest of Texas would work well. Seems weird to leave the Dallas metro out of having a dedicated thread, but for right now it doesn't seem like they have the critical mass to need a separate thread, especially since the oil towns rarely get mentioned ITT.

I'm just moving to TX next month and I'm not familiar with how much traffic each area gets on here (although fwiw there may not be a ton of traffic because it's all hidden away in home games rather than permitted in venues & communities)

I was thinking it made sense to have Austin, Houston, Dallas and Other I guess for TX rooms, if you aren't permitting dedicated threads by specific room (or permit rooms of certain sizes to have their own threads, so The Lodge, Texas Card House Dallas, etc. and then "Other Austin Rooms", etc?)

edit: I am coming from Tampa where the Hard Rock has 46 tables and their own dedicated thread. The Lodge has roughly twice as many tables, so might make sense for a room of that size to have its own thread too, rather than be lumped into a group-all thread with rooms that have 6-12 tables?)

TCH Dallas seems very busy to me. They were always talking about expanding, but that's probably up in the air now.

crosspost:

I'd like to see one for Dallas/FW. Poker Atlas is showing 4 in Dallas and 3 in the Fort Worth suburbs. I think some of them may be "coming soon", but we're sure to get more at some point. If we leave Dallas out then "the rest of Texas" will really just end up being a Dallas thread, I would imagine.

I think leave it together as Texas Card Rooms as a group. So many rooms have opened and closed. So many more will fold, especially in Houston.

Yup. I'll leave this thread open for a few weeks to make sure everyone finds the new location, but this thread will be closing soon. It's been nice having you all here, even though this location never made much sense to me.

Will post this in the new thread as well

They absolutely dominate the landscape in Austin compared sizewise to the other rooms. Will be interesting to see how they fare in Houston. Heard the action is nuts there too, although heard safety is a bigger concern in the Houston area unfortunately

I’ve never heard of Best Poker, had to look where it is. At least it’s not in the Galleria area.

Doug just said on Twitter that they’re not opening a room in Houston.

Should have probably said something like "we aren't currently looking to expand in Texas at this time but are always looking at opportunities as they present themselves" or something like that. What he posted to Twitter sounds like he is intimating the whole rumor was made up which it wasn't. Makes me trust him even less re: the entire Coinflex debacle.

Have to say I’m a bit disappointed. Was hoping for some of those big tourneys they get in Round Rock. I put two and two together and thought this was the reason for Hammer moving back. Oh well.

Locking this up. We were happy to be emergency back up hosts, but please take Texas card room discussion to the Venues and Communities forum from now on.
