No, I host 60+ player tourneys every month and have everything but those cool euro chips. I'm not sure who brought them.

60+! Nice! Are you that game in SJ I've heard about?

I'll be sending out PMs this week for contact information, and also get a sense of who's playing what stakes, so that I can make proper plans and adjustments. In addition to the people you see in the thread, I have a good number of long-time lurkers, whom I know personally through playing in regional home games.

This is going to be a great game, and we still have a month to keep recruiting... you'll probably eventually tire of my gratitude, but thanks to everybody for the strong support!

I actually can't make the 20th or 27th, but keep me in the loop anyway. The Octagon set was mine. Sounds like a blast you guys are going to have though

Maybe get a mod to put the date in the thread title once its set. Because I'm so in, and I just need to know when and where to show up and that will save me the 90 seconds of scrolling through the thread to find out if that's been mentioned yet.

I'd do that.

I am trying to get my post count up so I can be PMed the location. Is there plenty of Street park (screw Caltrain)?

Thanks for the PM on this. The slow response is due to my laptop being on the blink for the week.

I like mixed games, am likely to be available on the 20th and the location is very convenient.

Thanks for organizing.

Don't worry, if you post in this thread, you'll be contacted.

Plenty of parking.

I've created a list of possible mixed games, with increasing levels of insanity. Of course we're not limited to this, but it's a good starting point, and we can keep to the more familiar games as people get used to it all.

These will be printed as a batch of 52 cards for the game. Those at the table will pick one each, we'll agree to the overall balance, and then do a 30 minute round of each (change at the dealer push). When they're done, pick another batch. I've used this system a lot; it works pretty well.

If anybody has any suggestions or corrections of games, shout 'em out! It's still a work in progress, and I think some games need to switch categories.

I haven't done any PMs yet because I'm working out some details and I want to keep private communication as efficient as possible. I expect to get things going over the weekend, or by Monday. If you've posted in this thread or have sent me a PM, you're on the list.

For those who lurk and wish to remain 2+2 anonymous, don't worry. I will not reveal the screen names of those who have sent PMs but not posted in the thread.

How much for a set of those cards? That idea is awesome!!!

How much would you pay?

Okay, question for the crew: Do I need to be extra-cautious with those with low post counts? Should we keep this to people who have a reputation on here, or that we know personally? Or am I being overly paranoid?

I would be cautious myself in your place.

I don't believe that answers the question asked.

I don't even know the cost yet. Thanks for the props. I'm pleased with how they came out, although some games do need to switch categories. Clearly there are duds in each, but once you're in the 40s, might as well go for 52. I'll probably make the physical set next week.

I think we're fairly settled on the structure, but we can be very flexible day of. eneely will change the first post to reflect this when he gets a chance.

PMs are going out this evening with the first wave of information. If you don't get one soon, that means I missed you and you should contact me.

There are going to be actual dedicated dealers at this game? Did I miss that somewhere?

Oops, I see it is in the OP, though it has changed so maybe it wasn't there on my first read. I have to say that the whole thing sounds fun, but having dedicated dealers makes me like it less. Hard for me to justify the likely expense of playing in games I don't know plus having to tip dealers, and I actually like occasionally dealing myself in home games, and I think it makes me appreciate professional dealers more. I would really like to meet everyone
though.

Thank you for sharing your views.

So far you're in the minority on this, but maybe the rest are staying silent. Please, everybody express your opinions. Note that these are oval tables. Who wants to deal from the ends?

A concern of mine is the appearance of impropriety. I can't vouch for everybody coming, but I can vouch for the dealers I'll provide. With a few dozen relative strangers coming together, do we really want to have to scrutinize everybody, constantly correcting procedures, asking that they don't do certain things, hollering out to STOP because we need to discard, etc etc? Wouldn't it be easier to have a few dedicated trained professionals, so that we can relax and enjoy ourselves? Especially once we get to the goofy games, isn't training one person easier than training eight? I have enough problems with Pineapple discards in self-dealt home games, and that's an EASY one.

Don't even get me started on crappy shuffling procedures, exposing the cards for all to see (and taking 10x as long as necessary).

I play in a lot of home games. The dealing procedures are largely atrocious, even among the long running games at higher stakes, where you'd think people would be better.

I recently had a new player join my game, the one where I've been training people for years on how to keep a clean game running. He commented that while he feels he has a bigger edge at a lot of his other games, he absolutely LOVES the slickness of procedure and number of hands per hour at my game.

But I want to give the people what they want. If a majority don't want dealers, then we won't have them. So far most everybody who has responded to that topic has been on board with it.

Just thought I'd express my opinion; don't know if I will make it anyway though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Pfapfap, I had been meaning to PM you but it is really nothing private so I will say a few more things here.

I received a PM from you about the game. While I enjoyed receiving it, I'm not sure how you picked me since I live on the east coast. I have posted about playing in some CA casinos though since I used to travel there a lot for work, so maybe it was that way.

I actually haven't been in the area for 3 years, but by coincidence I will be in CA during your game. The only problem is I had planned to travel from the Bay area to southern CA two days before the game. It wouldn't be that tough to adjust my schedule, but I do want to make sure I spend enough time in southern CA before I leave, as I am hoping to move to CA this year and want to check out a lot of places.

I really wish the game were a week earlier; then I would definately attend and try to meet lots of people with good advice about places to live. I guess I could still get some advice but might not be able to check out the places before heading south. I'm particularly looking for walkable communities not too far from poker. If anyone has a good word for me, check out my post at http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/27...w-home-970663/

If Pfapfap or anyone would be interested in meeting during my time in the Bay Area (0roughly Feb 10-18, that would be great as well, just let me know.

I'm assuming the dealers won't play so I see no cause for concern. I view this as a home game with benefits. I expect cost to be much less than a casino and the benefits greater. (Tipping isn't an issue if you lose)

If dealers do play then I'm against them shuffling.

While I wouldn't be strictly opposed to a player who is uncomfortable taking a turn dealing he's not going to shuffle his own deal and he better be as good as the dealer provided.

Also, if the games were to switch to self dealt, can I decline my turn..... If I want to deal I can stay home and host my own game...

Not trying to debate, BTW. Just taken a bit aback by someone resisting dealers. People generally BEG me to deal.

Do they beg to tip you too?

Really I just play in casinos all the time, and will be almost every day for 3 weeks at that time. I like the home game feel of self-dealt games.

Also, doesn't having dealers make the game slightly more likely to get busted?
Home games in my state are legal, but if dealers are tipped that is enough to push it over the line to being illegal, and I have heard of an unraked game where the host dealt for tips getting busted.
