We have a solid dozen so far, plus a handful of interested parties. I have feelers out in a few other places. 20+ is a reasonable goal (I run regular games that size and bigger). We can support two types/levels of cash games, as long as people commit to sticking around for a reasonable stretch. Please continue to spread the word! Whatever your level of play, the more people we get at that level, the more of your preferred game you can have.

Is the 20th a good date? A few can't make it on that one. Is the 27th more better? I want to have it soon-ish, but I want as many as possible.

First draft of structure:

+ $40 6-max PLO S&Gs (~90 minutes each) as people arrive, then start breaking off into the cash games.

+ 2/4 or 3/6* FL HORSE+, 30 minute rounds. Reasonable variants as people get comfortable, but we can stretch out (no wildcards). You'd be surprised how much fun Crazy Pineapple Hi/Lo can be, or even 5-draw with a bug. I have thousands of chips and padded oval tables: there will be proper big FL stacks (plus a dealer). * I'm happy to go bigger, I just don't want to lock people out. Over buttons and/or kill pots are an option.

+ ????? The second table can be whatever is there to support it, be that 25/50¢ NLHE, or $5/10 PLO. But the mixed game is the main game. I'd like to encourage 6-8 players for that at all times. If we get short we break the other game in service of it, unless it's unanimous to go the other way.

...

Thoughts? Comments? This is of, by, and for the people. I'll take what you want and make it happen. This will take place, no matter what; we're clear on all fronts.

PS - the owner of the building is stoked about having a throwdown at his pad, so he may be up for kicking in some party trays or beverages or something. Is alcohol a priority? It is at my microstakes backroom games, but y'all are studious 'n stuff.

Oh, who owns that kickass chipset with the octagons? MUST HAVE!

a buddy of mine has an old octogon pan table from the Oaks, would bring it but it weighs a ton! then again, i do have a truck?

would be nice to have an alternative to NL tourney formats.
no offense, but is'nt NL soooooo boring for a home game??

bust out the criss-cross, 2 flop PLO (loved it!), razzledugi, 2-7 triple draw,
5 card Omaha8 (deathstar); hell, i want to see someone w/ quad Aces get whacked! I want some entertainment value out of this.
can't expect to make any $ off of ya'll, afterall. damn 2+2ers!
at least if i can call deathstar, It may cover my gas and toll!

Haha, don't worry, we have plenty of tables. I refuse to deal Pan. That game is insane.

Maybe an idea to balance those who want to get their feet wet with more traditional rotation games, and those who want to go balls-out... some kind of "rock" type thing, that gives you the option of calling a game for a hand. Or if you kill a pot, you get to call whatever you want? I dunno, just spitballin'. The possibilities are endless.

(BTW, Criss-Cross is a hell of a game. My new favorite.)

I'd rather see 4 game fixed rotation (a varient of holdem, omaha, stud, and draw each) as the main game. HORSE has too heavy of an emphasis on stud games.

I definitely agree with a balancing of forms of game. I don't expect we'll go in HORSE order, that's just the familiar term for newbies. I've seen a few methods that work. One I like that L0QTiS uses in his game: all the posible games are laid out on cards, and everybody picks one. Then the group looks at the balance of games in the bunch, with a bit of veto power.

What time you planning to start this degenfest?

Alcohol is cool but not necessary IMO. Although I may need a drink to wrap my head around some of these games and usually care too much to drink while playing. Previously BotB was BYOB FYI IIRC.

Also as I was convinced (by Onaflag I think) at an earlier BotB stud games are boring.

^Sounds good to me. I'm sure some of us (myself included) will want to get our feet wet with the mixed games. Or...maybe I'll be the only novice and help donate to you folks.

Regardless, the mixed game element is what I'm looking forward to the most to get more live experience with these games while having some fun.

I do like alcohol too, so may get buzzed enough to jump to the balls-out table .

Low buy in PLO SnGs sound just about right.

What town is this in Pfap? North or South peninsula? Anywhere near a Bart station?

What time are we starting? I prefer early afternoon to get as much play as possible.

What's the max number of players that can attend?

It's near SFO, accessible to Millbrae BART. We can arrange shuttles if need be, try to get a few people to arrive at once. But it's a hop and a skip. I plan on arriving via bicycle.

I'm sure we can manage a fridge of beer, at least. Maybe a nice bottle of something.

Noon-ish seems to be a good start time for weekend games. No requirement to show up exactly at, that's why the S&G format. Heck, if we get 6 folks wanting to play, I've no problem with starting earlier. We can go as late as necessary. 'Til dawn, even.

Maybe throw some Red Bulls in that fridge.

I'll compile a more solid list next week (and hand out details), but right now I have 14 confirmed on my rough count. The max number of players that can attend is 100.

I'm very much liking the idea of 25/50c NL, PLO or mixed games.

I like the sngs too, but the stakes might be too high for me. 5-10 dollar sngs would be great imo. I guess I could just show up and see what's happening.

The responses keep coming in! Lots more PMs and text messages, I'd say 25-30 is a reasonable goal at this point.

Question: I can probably find a half dozen or so non 2+2ers who love to gamble, but will be playing under-rolled. Probably buy in short, then take off if they don't go on a rush, maybe a trickle of them through the day. We'll definitely discourage hit-n-runs, but do people want me to open it up a bit? Do we want this pond stocked?

Very few people so far don't want to play the mixed game... huzzah!

Note Millbrae BART is also Caltrain, for those who may be coming from the South and have no BARTish. It also happens to be 1 stop down from Artichoke Joe's

Hey boys,

None of you know me, since I don't post much, but I would def be interested in something like this. I live in SF and would be down for whatever stakes, and especially would be in for a FL rotation game. Other than the occasional game at my office, I haven't played in a real home game in years, would be a lot of fun.

Most weekends work for me, the 20th is good.

And I would def bring some beer.

Yes, good point! Easy access from everywhere, either vehicle or transit. And if you still want gamble when we're done, just roll down the street.

It's like you know all the right things to say.

...

Some folks have suggested that I not be so hard-core about "YOU MUST PLAY 3/6 FL!" I just want to have something in that range guaranteed, so that those interested in those stakes are more likely to commit. But we're already there, probably have enough for two small/medium-stakes games plus a third cheeseburger table.

So if you're a quarter stakes players, don't stay away just because of that! Hell, bring two of your buddies, and now suddenly you have half a table already.

...

This won't be the end of my gushing, but I'm charged by the reaction to this. I've been wanting to organize a FL rotation game of this level for a while, and this space just became available to me. Glad to see it all coming together!

The 20th was suggested as a holiday weekend, but it turns out lots of people go out of town on holiday weekends. I have probably half a dozen people already who want to play but won't be here on the 20th.

I suppose more importantly, who here cannot play the 27th?
Maybe you should set up a pole with various possible dates.

Eh, I regretted posting that. The 20th already has momentum, and it seems people are interested in more than one of these, so let's just charge forward.

I'm playing diplomat to some other disputes today, my head's a bit wobbly.

Put me down as tentative. I loved the old Soss games. Like you already mentioned, he doesn't play any more, though I talk to him every now and again.

BTW, it may have been onaflag that had that octagon chip-set w/ the placards and all??
