Looking for a Charlotte home game as well. Side question, I know there's $0 involved, but are any of the bar poker leagues even worth going to in Charlotte?
There's a poker league at Skybrook Golf Club in Huntersville every Thursday at 7PM, but its a satellite to the WSOP Circuit at Harrah's. Buyin is $30, 15 minute levels. Start with 7K in chips. Rebuys until 4th level. The field is very soft, but the format is awful. By the time the final table rolls around (9 players), nobody has more than 15BB. When there are 3-5 players, nobody has more than 8BB. Anyone, no matter how inexperienced they are, can easily win it. Any week. If I had it my way, I'd play it on Saturday/Sunday and start at noon. They don't give the players enough chips to make any bluffs. I understand where they're coming from, they don't want the tournament to last until 1AM when they all have work the next day. I've been going for a couple months, and out of the 12-16 that regularly show up, I'd say two of them have general knowledge of poker theory. For the money, I'd say it is not worth it. I've only been going because I have literally nowhere else to go. If you enjoy playing hyper turbo's you'd probably enjoy it. You're welcome to come play if you'd like.
Update March 21, 2018. The old home game management has been ousted. The current management doesn't have any sort of direct satellite format, rather the people who cash take home cash. We average 15-20 players, with a buyin of $30 and unlimited rebuys up to level 4 (15 minute levels). The format is turbo, and the field is very soft. Tournaments typically last 3-4 hours. It takes place at various homes in the Huntersville/Concord area. The winner each week receives around $250-$300 depending on amount of entrants and rebuys. 3 players cash. Takes place every Thursday at 7PM. Message me if you are interested in this home game. I also found out about another home game in Harrisburg which has a membership program. I have vague details, but in short, its $45 buyin for nonmembers and $40 for members. Around 40-50 players show up each week and the winner takes around $800-950. Again, this depends on the entrants and rebuys. I haven't been to this game which takes place every Friday with a monthly $1/2 cash game. The structure is very regular, with the tournaments taking around 6-7 hours. I do not have a direct hookup to this home game currently. If I attend it, I can (hopefully) get you guys into this one. I do not know how much membership costs (guessing around $100-200?). Once again, if you are interested in the Huntersville homegame, which takes place every Thursday. Message me and I can probably get you in. I cannot at this moment get you any special hookups to the Harrisburg homegame.
