I'm sick of driving up to Blackhawk and wondering if anyone has a line on 1/2 NL anywhere in Denver

Is Aurora close enough? Moved here a few months back and have been considering starting a game up.

Ran a fairly successful league and cash game in Ohio for 3 years.

Will do. I picked up a few contacts in Blackhawk 2 weekends ago that are willing as well, so I will attempt to get something going as soon as the week after thanksgiving.

In the meantime, I'll post a little about me and the game I (used to) run:

I'm 32, have lived in Aurora about 6 months, and so far do not know anyone here that plays more than $10 tournies with buddies once a month. Would probably start here with just a cash game and then try and work people into a league if I can get a solid player base.

For 3 years back in Ohio I ran a league and cash game. The buyins changed every year, and I'm flexible, so what's below is just examples.

First and foremost, it's always been a fun game. So if it seems a little serious below, please don't get discouraged. It's intended to be a real (serious?) game, but also fun and easy-going. Also on that note, please don't come if you are someone that feels controversy is necessary every other hand even it's a $8 pot.

LEAGUE:
-38-42 weeks (playing nearly every Friday night)
$35+5 buyin
-The $5 goes to the Season Championship - There is never a house rake at my game.
-Tournies were mostly NL Holdem, with occasional PLO or NL Omaha Hi mixed in.
-Point scale included: 1 point for kill, 1 point for last place, 2 for second to last, and so on up to first. I also had a formula to give bonus/penalty points based on your ROI vs # games played.
-Top 9 players at end of season got into the Season Championship for free. I had another formula to calculate a staggered buyin for players outside of the top 9 to buy in to the championship. I also ordered sweet trophies every year.
-Stats are calculated and sent out via email weekly, so you can view and correct my math (it is wrong on some rare occasions)
-Season money is not kept on site at the house after it reaches over $500
-References can be provided to you if you require further indication that I run a clean, honest, and fun game
-Printed rules (Mostly PTDA rules, with some added and some discarded) would be included in tournament play
CASH GAME:
-We always played $.50/1 no min/max (In the past people have set as little as $20 on the table and as much as $5k(please don't bring $5k every week)), but I would be open to $1/2 (flexible on most anything).
-Game was almost always a NL holdem/Omaha Hi mix. It's NL Omaha, I know it sounds weird, but believe me when you get used to it it is way fun, and also makes it easy on me trying to calculate pots. I don't do Hi/lo of any sort, sorry :/
-Also enforced is the 7-2 rule, where if you win in NL hold'em and show your hand, all players dealt in the hand owe you $2. And in Omaha, if you win with 3 of a kind in your hand (e.g. hole cards are 444Q), everyone owes you $2.
-I have run a BBJ in the past, and rules for that would be printed and posted if I were to do it again (BBJ can be difficult to run because it can cause drama sometimes)

Notes:

-No rake has ever been taken from my game. (Donations towards beer/cards/table repairs/etc always accepted)
-I almost always deal, unless there is a volunteer (deal does not pass around the table, it's too slow)
-I have 3 ten person tables, but, my house is quite a bit smaller than my old one so I would probably only be comfortable running two. 2 are standard foldout tables and one is a nice wooden table that I've installed an in-table shuffletech shuffler in (which works sometimes!).
-I have 3 TVs mounted in the basement for all your sporting pleasure. In case of a fight or important game, i have a 124" HD projector that comes down in front of the TVs. Beer Fridge, Kegerator, and Bathroom are all located conveniently in the basement as well.
-I act as the "floor" in all disputes in which I am not involved in the hand. I will have appointed an alternate "floor" for hands if I am involved. Floor decision is final.
-Don't bring guns. Don't bring drugs. Weed is more or less legal in CO, but my job does not allow for it, so maybe we'll ease into you cigaweed type people. Smoking is available on my outside patio. Beer/liqour is always welcome!

Sorry for the novel. Please PM me if interested and we can get details going (If my PMs are ever enabled).

Also sorry if this is considered a thread hijack. If so, pls inform me and I'll start my own thread.

Thanks!

Will be in Blackhawk most of this weekend and see if I can pick up another player or seven. Would like to get this going as early as next Friday or Saturday, but if not then, then the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I'm interested in playing cash games, although my bankroll would not support a 1/2 game. If you have a 0.25/0.50, 0.50/1, or a 1/1 game, let me know. I live in northeast Denver.

Hi all,

Looks like we will have to push this game for this week, and I will definitely be running it starting Friday, 6 December around 6:30ish and likely most Fridays after that. If you know of anyone in the area looking for a game, please let them know. I will PM/msg my contact info as we draw nearer to the date.

In the meantime, here are some pics of the room. The setup is tentative as I just moved stuff around tonight. Original setup was a movie room in the front and the brown table in the back. In the next few days I'll probably try and rearrange further so that each seat has plenty of room. Also, not all chairs are set up in these pics.

with the screen up.

tried to do a panoramic.

with the screen down. And yes, the gambler in me does have a roulette wheel hiding back there!

Back view. Kegerator should be filled up again by game time...if i'm not lazy!

Sorry for the late updates, as I have been out of town on vacation most of the past two weeks.

This game is going to go as scheduled. As I said we'll most likely start the first game as a 1/2 cash game and we'll move from there. I'm very flexible though so if the majority want a tournament or want to play $.50/1 or anything like that we can certainly do it.

WHEN: Friday, 6 Dec starting at 6:30pm
Address to follow in PM/Email/text msg. If I don't have your info and you want to play PM me!

The room is ready to go. I have 13 listed with 16 possible so when you add up the inevitable no shows we should have enough for a full table.
