We should be getting x% of 2855.84 not x% of 2287.07. So 5% should be $142.79.

pretty sure he did it right, it was 80/20 investor stake.

Which gives you $571.17 (2855.84 / 100 * 20)

So we divide the profit after he takes his cut, even though he's basically bought 20% of himself? It's not too big of a deal, I just wasn't aware of it.

I sold 100% of myself but the deal was 80/20 no stakeback, so my 20% is $571,77 as written. The backers will split 80% of the cashes which is $2287,07 and i do belive this is a fair deal for both parts
