so i guess you did not play the Bellagio 1k rebuy. Any plans to replace it or will you just refund?

Hey everyone - Overview so far:

The Venetian bubble was the most brutal experience I have ever had in a live tourney. If you combine the AA<JJ and QQ<AKss (bubble hand) that were both lost to the same frenchman (he had 4bbs at one point), I probably lost 15K in tourney equity easy. I was playing as well I as ever had and with above average chips (assuming I win either hand), I like my chances to run deep.....First was 222k. Just disgusting overall.

So I played the WSOP 1K as you saw.....was floundering along for awhile and and had 8bbs going to dinner break and about to post BB. So I late regged for the 2.5k during that dinner break considering I expected to bust 1K right after dinner. I ran 7.5K starting to almost 10K in the hour or so I played.

I got a bad beat that the late regs that had been being put in the same room as the 1k were moved to Amazon room, which is 5 minute walk from my 1k table in Pavilion. So I could not run back and forth. After running 2.5k stack up a little I went back to the 1k after dinner and never ended up busting (went all in no less than 30 times after dinner through end of Day 1). Would have had a big stack, but ran into quads twice.....

So that Day 1 ended, and I had 3-4 hours of late night 2.5K play. I got hero called when I check raised A86r with air after flatting BB. Barreled the 2 turn and 8 river and got called by 76. So that crippled me to 10bbs. I doubled up and then ran it up to 15k at 200/400. I then made a questionable jam over MP1 open go 1k with AJHH (had 13K at the time). Thought the spot was really close (close to a flat, close to a fold, close to a jam). I think in live poker against bad players it may actually be a flat since it is suited. However, the opener was the one good player at the table, so I could not flat progitably versus him as I could others. Oh well, he had KK and I bricked a big draw on the flop that teased me.

Day 2 of the 1k was going very well and my table was LOL bad. I ran it up from 14k to 20k and then lost a big 3-way allin with AA versus QQ and JJ. Q flopped, JJ folded after I rejammed pre (but would have hit a J). Really big pot which would have allowed me to run over a soft table. I limped to the money with 5bbs. Ran that up to 15bbs and then lost AQ<A10 aipf to get back to decent stack. 301st for $2100.


So I missed the Bellagio 1k rebuy as a result fo the Day 2. One other change - I am going to play the WSOP ME Mega (1k) today instead of the Bellagio 1k (fields have been weak there). This will be played for the value of winning the 10k funds (not equity in ME), and given how absurdly soft these fields are, I think has more value than a small field at the Bellagio 1k. I hope investors agree.

I am playing Day 1C of the ME, so in the meantime I may play a Venetian or something, have not looked at the schedule.....will definitely be refudning some funds though since 4k was allocated to the rebuy. Nothing that can be done.

I have been really happy with my play and just need to stop losting huge allins with AA late in Day 2s. The only play that was questionable was the AJhh push and I admit to being really tired at the time. That tourney was great. 2k runners, over 800k to first, so was really disappointed to bust.

Saw there is 1K PLO with rebuys at Bellagio tomorrow that I could consider since I am playing Day 1C. That would be good replacement. May go by tomorrow and see how many they get for it and then decide.

I got back to Florida today.....will recap trip early this week and send out the funds from the prelims. Really disappointing trip overall, but prelim package almost broke even (despite Venetian 2k absurdity).

ME sucked, got set up several times and then made a questionable 3bet/call with AKss to bust. Will post that one in MTT Strategy.

FYI - As everyone knows, Florida Poker Laws just changed (booked 5K in 5 hours in first 5/10 cash game session today - play was absurd) and there are two larger tourney series coming up in a couple weeks. Will sell some action for those.

Ok Everyone - Sorry for the delay in recapping everything. Took a mental break from poker for a couple days and procrastinated on finalizing the package.

First Off Summaries:

Prelims: I already went over most of this before....this part of the package was really ruined by the Venetian bubble where things went really terrible after having a large stack the whole tournament. The Day 2 of the 1k (min-cash for $2110 after AA aipf debacle) caused me to miss the Bellagio 1k Rebuy ($4k allotted), which I replaced with a Venetian $350 and a bunch of STTs at the RIO.

I bricked the Venetian tourney, but made about a 1K profit in the STTs despite losing the first two STTs, including my first $1k where I lost a large pot 5-handed to Doug Lee, with QQ<103off. Had $1500 (1k plus $500 last longer) on the line in that one, so we were in the hole early. Ended up chopping the next two 1ks (one split) for 2K (after split) and $2800 to turn a decent profit. Could really have played these all week given how soft they were....was really sick how bad people play strategy wise (absurd raise/folding with <10bbs, etc).

So total cashes was $6910 ($4800 from the two STTs and $2110 for min-cash in WSOP 1k) for the prelims.....

1% = $69.10.


WSOP ME: Turns out this was my worst tournament all summer (good timing) as far as being in brutal spots regularly. 4 key hands on Day 1:

Hand 1 - Third hand of tourney I call raise with 109ss. Flop 1052ss. OR bets, I raise him, and the button cold calls. Turn is a brick and I bomb the turn for full pot. OR folds and button calls again. River is 8s. I check call 4k and he has AJss. Nice flat on turn...lol.

Hand 2 - Raise and a flat from HJ and CO in front of me and I 3bet JJ from the button. Blinds fold and both call. Flop 866ss. CO check/calls bet from me, HJ folds. Turn offsuit K. CO check calls another bet. River 3 of hearts or some brick. CO leads for full pot. I tank fold. I ask him to show and he flashes 76off.

Hand 3 - I iso a fish limp from the button with QJdd. Fish calls, blinds fold. Flop AdKdJx. I flop a huge hand and it is really hard for the limper to have more than Ax, so I bomb the flop and the the brick (offsuit 5) on the turn. Get called both times. River is an offsuit 8 and the limper leads into me for a large bet. I elected to call this time and was shown Q10off for the nuts. This was a large pot.

Hand 4 - After getting moved to new table I flatted a raise from the CO versus a good player (Ghetto Fabulous online - finished 3rd in Tom Dwan runner-up 1500 this year). BB overcalls. Flop is QJ9r. Checked to me and I bet 1/2 pot. BB folds, Ghetto calls. Turn 9. Goes check/check. River Ace (rainbow board). Ghetto puts me all in for last 10k with only @ 6k in the pot. I tanked for 3 minutes and folded. He told me after the day ended that he had K9. Brutal spots....


Day 2 - After doubling last hand of Day 1, I drew a super soft Day 2 table, honestly softer than and 1k/1.5K table I had all summer. Allen Carter (nit) and David Oppenheim (20bbs) were the only ones I recognized at the table. I chipped up to 17k from 13.6k without showdown in the first 30 minutes despite playing a little tighter than I would with more chips.....then:

Allen Carter opens UTG to 1100 at 200/400/50 (10 minutes from 300/600 level, FYI). I have @ 17k in the BB and look down at AKss. Really crappy spot given how tight he is. I did not think it through enough and 3bet/called versus flatting, which I think is actually better versus a nit like him and given how soft the table was.

I think the fact that I had not held AA/KK or AK the whole tourney (QQ once last hand of Day 1) skewed my judgement, plus I had visions of finally have a good stack (over 80bbs if I doubled) after being short for most of Day 1. Anyhow, I got it in versus his KK and never scared the board. So if I flat, I would have to just check/fold the 855r flop that came out, which would have felt weak but maybe is best line in this particular spot. I dunno.....like I said, really gross spots all tourney, but given the softness of the table and my equity versus this field, prolly should have just flatted preflop.


So that was my ME, sorry I did not win money, but I would say that I honestly have a 50% or higher ROI in this tourney given the stuff I saw. Just not this time.
